The A's still need to finish off the Twins (the A's have been in this situation before up 2 - 0 to the Yankees and Boston and blew both of those series). But this is a completely different year and different team and again, whomever the A's play is in for a BATTLE. They A's are a scrappy team that finds ways to win.

The A's have the best record since the All-Star break, they have 10 and 8 game winning streaks this year, they swept the Yankees in NY, they took 3 out of 4 in Boston (before the Red Sox imploded), they have already taken two straight in Minnesota who by far has the best home record this year, they beat probable Cy-Young winner Johan Santana.....

Yeah any team playing the A's is going to be in for a major battle!

The Big Hurt was a great pick up. He never gets cheated when he swings! Even when he misses his pop-ups are gigantic.

It should be a great series (assuming both Oakland and NY move on), the Big Hurt vs. Jeter, Johnson (assuming he can pitch) vs Zito, Wang vs Harden, Rivera vs Street.....THAT is what October is all about!

WOW....interesting development....the Tigers have "stolen" Home Field Advantage. That is why short series (best of 5) can be so dangerous.

The Tigers did exactly what you need to do opening on the road in a short series, win at least 1 out of 2.

However, this series is far from over and I would not count the Yankees out, but at the same time I wouldn't count the Tigers out either.
