A couple of months ago, one of my exes asked if I could rent a car for him for about a week. We're good friends, we were together for 8 years, blah blah blah.

Well after the first week he asked if we could renew the contract and I agreed. I told them that one month only because I interview people who get caught up in the rental car thing and end up with warrants for stolen vehicles. Well, after that month he paid some money on the rental. He said that he was going to return the vehicle. Cool. Well, a week or so after I get a call from the rental agency asking me if I wanted to renew the contract. I played it off and called my ex. He hadn't returned the car.

Now, it's been two months and he said he was going to return the car last Thursday, Monday, yesterday and today. I'm worried sick about it. He's tried to sweet talk me and everything. I went to the rental agency this morning and everything is cool on that end but they have charged one of my credit cards $2000 that I don't even have on that card. I only had $300 available on that card. So now I'm really super pissed. Both of our names are on the contract, me being the primary. I was up front with them, that I was renting the vehicle for him.

I needed to share. I hate this kind of drama. All I need is for them to put a warrant out on me. I can't have any kind of record my job and future depends on it.

The thing that bugs me is that he's so nonchalante about it. And he's thanked me all kinds of times, saying that nobody would do that for him.

I've had it!!!!! No more Mr. Nice Guy.

Hope you learned you lesson. I won't even rent a car or anything like that for someone in my family.

There's a reason you can do such a thing and they can't.

Miguel It's always the nice guys who get it in the neck. I have been in similar but not so serious situations with exes, and I know how hard it is to just turn around and stop them taking advantage of you. So I can't tell you to kick his ass.

But have faith, I believe everything is part of the plan, you just can't see it.

I know from experience that when I would rent a car for myself, it would often end up I would max my credit card out before returning the car.

That was before I got me a new car.

Wow. That really sucks, especially with your job being what it is.

You need to go to his house ASAP and demand the keys to the car and return it. It's already cost you way more than you need! The only way it's going to get done is if you do it yourself or if you do it with him. He's tied to the car and you need to break him free of it. You need to be there in person. If he is a friend, he will do as you ask.

MG if you know her address etc... GIVE IT TO THE CAR HIRE... say you were only the initial lender.... give the FULL details of your ex... That is so TOTALLY out of order!!!!

How would you feel if one of your org friends "accidentally" got a hold of his cell number and ripped him a new asshole?

I know what I'd do - but it wouldn't be rational or legal.
