me too. i was against travolta at first, because harvey fierstein originated the role on braodway (and was AWESOME in it) and i thought they should have got him, but the pic is making me want to change my mind.

I'm looking 4ward 2 the new movie. I love John Water's original and the stage version (though a note 4 those unaware: aside from character names and basic storyline, they have almost nothing 2 do with each other). I don't care 4 the casting choice of Queen Latifah as Motormouth. I'd rather see an older actress and much stronger vocalist in that role. The kid playing Link looks like he's 12 (check out IMDB). Amanda Bynes? Can she sing?...

I'm very xcited about seeing Nicole Blonsky. Her look is spot-on and I read that aside from plays in high school, she's done absolutely nothing. In order 2 score a gig like this, she's gotta b pretty damn impressive.

I'mm okay with latifah. i had reservations about her doing chicago and then when i saw it she blew me away, so... my biggest thing was replacing billy crystal with christopher walken as wilbur. he's supposed to be shlubby, warm, goofy. walken just seems... wrong.
but you should hear me doing walken as wilbur it's funny as hell.

I quite agree. The John Waters version could never be improved upon, but I suppose Hollywood must remake everything at some point or another.

having seen the musical on broadway three times, i can honestly say while i LOVE the waters film, the musical really really really works and even improves on it a little boxed

john himself is actally a huge fan of the musical too.

i'm sure uncle johnny is a fan of the $$$ he's getting, plus it has to be a fantastic boost to his mainstream credibility (and i ain't knockin' that at all...go john!) - i'll just suffice it to say that i'm happy it's not a stage musical version of 'female trouble' or 'multiple maniacs'...though in the right hands, i guess that could be pretty kickass. lol

i'm just not a broadway musical person. that's my whole thing. shrug

despite the way this thread makes it seem, im not either.

and actually, a musical female trouble... it could work, btu it would have to be really dark and twisted.

I know. I felt that way at first. Heck, I was Tracy Turnblad for halloween once, even.
But I'm getting sucked in. The stage musical was wonderful.

You all know that somebody's turning Showgirls into a musical, don't you?

Just Google "Showgirls Musical". I'm too lazy to fetch a link.

read about that in something recently. i don't think it will work. part of the charm of showgirls is it doesn't realize how idiotic it is. if you go in trying to write something stupid, it probably won't work
