Book of the month: ONLY REVOLUTIONS by Mark Z. Danielewski So, I'm halfway through ONLY REVOLUTIONS by Mark Z. Danielewski and oh boy what a doozy of a ride. Like his previous novel, The House of Leaves, Danielewski is pushing the concepts of the "novel," in new directions. The story of two perpetually sixteen years olds travelling throughout history is told in the perspective of the two main characters Sam and Hailey. Here's the new twist (or gimmick) as suggested by the publisher: It is recommended that you alternate between Hailey and Sam's narrative eight pages at a time. Any other book buffs reading this yet? Istensek? Anxiety? Let's discuss... i finally got it in the mail on tuesday!
although i had pre-ordered it and was supposed to get it one day before the official release. damnit i've flicked through it and decided to put it aside for a while since i'm moving house, need to have my tonsils taken out have an exam beginning next month. plus i had 2 other books to finish. but yes, i've got it and i really really wish i could start it right now. but i also know that if i do i won't be able to put it down cuz danielewski's books are more like interactive games/movies and books all rolled up into one. and i'm a sucker for that, lol. so i will crawl up with it sometime late october, starting on a friday afternoon and read and re-read it all weekend. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |
