i hate tom hanks. i hate his collicky voice, i hate his watery cow eyed stare, i hate his dumb-ass nose and i hate his whole image, which makes me hate him even more because he used to actually be kinda funny and interesting in the beginning. he's the billy joel of acting, only at least billy joel never pretended he wasn't an ass, even at his sappiest.

That's true, I used to think he was okay in 'Bosom Buddies'. I saw 'Bachelor Party' and the aforementioned 'Splash', but after that I couldn't watch him.

if not for 'bosom buddies', my hatred for hanks would be complete. but dammit, that show was funny.

Actually, the only actor to which that applies is Tom Hanks. Something about him rubs me the wrong way. Yeah, I missed 'Forrest Gump', 'Apollo 13', 'Philadelphia', etc., but for some reason it doesn't bother me that I missed them. shrug

Those other goofy actors I mentioned I'd go see if they appeared in an indie film where they played it straight.

lol his dumb ass nose!

Definitely the Billy Joel of acting. Not without merit, but completely overrated and have contributed nothing of real value to their respective arts.

Forest Gump may be his We Didn't Start The Fire

I'm not a huge fan of Tom Hanks either, but I really liked Philadelphia. Forrest Gump was boring to me, and Apollo 13 was quite a yawn. All I took away from that movie was "Things suck out here in space. I wish we could get back to earth and eating frozen hot bogs is a bummer." shrug

That's kinda how I am about a lot of actors. There are several that I don't really care about or even mildly dislike (like John Travolta), but I can still enjoy some of their movies and admit that they're good in those roles.

I've also never seen:

The Da Vinci Code
Cast Away
The Green Mile
Saving Private Ryan
Sleepless In Seattle/You've Got Mail
Big

Two movies I haven't seen, but I'd be willing to watch if a gun was put to my head is 'A League Of Their Own' and 'Road To Perdition'. I get the impression he isn't quite as offensive in those.

He's obnoxious in A League of Their Own, but so are Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell. So if you wanna get annoyed...

The Ladykillers was the one "character" role I kind of enjoyed from Tom Hanks. Forrest Gump made me want to beat myself with a crowbar.

hahahahahah!!

For some reason Matt Damon looks like someone who is really sweet looking and nice but on the inside he's EVIL. He's probably going to turn out to be a serial killer, in real life.

Oh yeah, Will Farrell too. He and Sandler do this one brand of comedy that I just can't stand.

And it's not that I don't like dumbass comedy. I like Jim Carrey, I like Jackass. . . I can't explain exactly what it is, but those two guys: stab

I had no opinion on him whatsoever until I saw him on Martha Stewart's show earlier this week. He cam across as really charming, sweet and likeable. I don't think he's an outstanding actor, but I've liked him in movies.
