packing lunches for little ones

My boy is not eating his lunch at school. He's probably getting tired of the same old things all the time. I am running out of non-boring ideas.
What do you parents put in your kids' lunch boxes?

lol It's hard to decide sometimes...lately it's been grapes, raisins, capri suns, sandwich, yogurts, nutrigrain bars, apples, bananas....my son just got an expander put in his mouth, so it's hard for him to eat somethings.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Think back to when you were a kid and what you would have wanted.

pack a bento box. I saw Rachel Ray pack one on her new show.

my kid only eats veggie sushi so I would buy or make that and include a container with cold soba noodles (delicious!) and strips of carrots and cucumbers.and maybe a fortune cookie for dessert--I know, that's mixing Japanese and Chinese--it's all so good!

he's a pickier eater than I was. I ate whatever my parents put in it. sandwiches, etc. My son's allergic to peanuts so pb&j is out.

how about Sunflower Butter? My son's school uses that as a PB alternative.

When they have turkey slop (no kidding, even the teachers call it that) for lunch at school, I have to pack a lunch. I usually pack what my kids like.

Chicken sandwich, for my son, with carrots, grapes, wheat crackers w/small container of hummus and bottled water.

Grapes, banana, carrots/celery sticks, wheat crackers w/hummus, and small bag of chicken or turkey and bottled water for my daughter.

For mid-day snack they usually take a cinnamon bun or yogurt.

I guess try a variety of things your son likes - mix it up! When they were younger, and took a lunch every day, I used a lot of left-overs from dinner.

Boy, even I can tell I've had a bit to drink! Spelling errors...
Ack... it's neverending!

I'll give that a shot. I've never heard of sunflower butter before.

well, he does like carrot sticks and celery sticks. He even likes lettuce. I'll go shopping tomorrow and pick some of that stuff up. Maybe with some ranch dressing in a little cup.

That sounds good! Maybe even throw in a little not telling him "hello". Maybe that will prompt him to want to eat his lunch even more.

I used to go here for ideas. My idea of a meal is fruit and yogurt or salad, but you can't grow healthy kids on just that. smile
