here are my faves:

1) the carriage scene in "The Libertine" for those who have seen it know what i'm referring to. when johnny depp put his hand up rosamund pike's dress.."i will only embrace my dear abductor"...CLAUDE HAVE MERCY! ..this left me wondering :did they or didn't they?

2)Blow-once again.johnny depp...penelope cruz...red light...candle wax & whips..i loved the way their hedonistic scenes were filmed in this one too...

call it "sleight of hand" if you will.

The car scene on the TITANIC was pretty steamy...

I remember the scene in the movie "Body Heat" where William Hurt rips the buttons off Kathleen Truner's blouse as he takes it off and literally rips her panties off her body amd takes her body into his. That may have been the hottest non-porn movie I've seen, but I still haven't seen "Irreversible" yet. I'm told that it has one of the hottest, steamiest sex scenes in modern mainstream film history, but it also has one of the most incredibly unsettling rape scenes ever filmed as well.

Just saw The Libertine. My God -that carriage scene.

This one's not really a sex scene, but it's the closest we were allowed -the Baby's On Fire sequence in Velvet Goldmine where Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ewan McGregor do the classic "Bowie simulating head on Ronno's gee-tar" bit. Fucking HOT.

far and away the best scene is in the middle of Don't Look Now with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. If you haven't seen it you MUST check it out - and the whole movie is awesome too.

I don't know how or why, but sex scenes in non-English-speaking films seem real, whereas in Hollywood movies, it just looks tacky, cheap, unnecessary and contrived (even though Hollywood movies are less explicit).
