[Edited 9/19/06 14:41pm] i thought "natured" was an adjective "good-natured" is an adjective, not exactly sure what "natured" by itself would be, maybe an adjective. But I didn't mean "description" like that's the proper grammatical term, I just meant it generally. I'm sure I've made about 30 grammatical mistakes on this thread already! My Legacy

Stack that one with my all time hate... "Thank you in advance" How do you thank someone in advance? WHat does that MEAN??? That you mean that they will do such and such? I just assume they'll do it and I am thanking them, as I know it will get done. Christian Zombie Vampires | |

use vs utilize
Usage Note: A number of critics have remarked that utilize is an unnecessary substitute for use. It is true that many occurrences of utilize could be replaced by use with no loss to anything but pretentiousness, for example, in sentences such as They utilized questionable methods in their analysis or We hope that many commuters will continue to utilize mass transit after the bridge has reopened. But utilize can mean “to find a profitable or practical use for.” Thus the sentence The teachers were unable to use the new computers might mean only that the teachers were unable to operate the computers, whereas The teachers were unable to utilize the new computers suggests that the teachers could not find ways to employ the computers in instruction. The American use of 'gotten' used to grate on me (still does) but now I found that it's acceptable grammar, we just don't use it in the UK anymore except in words like illgotten. I just hate the word 'Got' I suppose, it is so crude and I was always taught (or should I say "I woz learned" Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC).
