Fauxie said: Checkpoints in town, tanks, hummers and wave after wave of trucks with soldiers in the back. They all looked so young. Khao San Road was eerily silent with not one person walking on the street. After Victory Monument there was a checkpoint with soldiers peering inside cars, and then soldiers all around several roads after that, and several roads blocked off. Still a few taxis around after 4am but nobody really out on the street.
Is it exciting? | |

We did something incredibly dumb tonight, but just had to see for ourselves and have a record of this. The streets are reasonably quiet, save for the trucks, but things are calm and controlled. There's no real aggression from the many young soldiers stationed around aside from their sometime protestations against photography. I'm heading off to bed. things aren't particularly tense here, but people are waiting to see what will happen when the PM returns from the US.

I don't think he will.....take care, Nick! Will do. We're going to stay here a while and then head back home this afternoon. I really don't have the energy for this what with having to head out to the new airport on the 26th and fly to Malaysia for my visa run amidst the trouble down south too. We have the internet back fully now, but still no western news channels on TV. Just waiting to hear anything new.
