Poetic Justice

Do u all remember this movie? Can u believe that its been 13 years since it was released? I had just finished the 8th grade and we had been looking forward to this movie all year. I remember going to see it at a theater that has since been torn down. I saw this movie the first day it was released. It was jammed packed. Every showing was sold out. It was one of those really ghetto theaters where the audience talks throughout teh entire movie (and you had better not say anything about it! lol) The audience was 99% black and 99% of the females in the audience had their hair braided exactly like Janet Jackson's character, "Justice". I notice that alot of reviewers dont care for this film but it is one of my favorites. When I think of Janet and Tupac being in the same film together... hell that shit just sounds exciting. It was such a comming of age film for me. I was preparing for highschool and it brings really nice memories to mind (especially since my 1994 was the worst year of my entire life), so tonight Im going to grab a copy of this movie, relax and run down memory lane again. How do u guys feel about this movie? Favorite scenes? Favorite lines? Feedback people!

This is one of my favorite scenes in the film. This is where Janet's character meets Tupac's character "Lucky" for the first time.

I put this movie on my Netflix list. And I watched it a few weeks ago.

My favorite scene is when Janet gets out of the truck and they leave her in the dust lol

And her stubborn self is stumbling down the street with her bags

Terrible movie (thinnest plot EVER!) but still a classic lol Pac was good in all his acting efforts, he really could have gone further w/ his acting given the chance sigh

Janet can't act her way out of... anything lol The best line is delivered by the vastly underused Tyra Ferrell:

"'Cause all I do is dress... and rest... 'cause love don't live here anymore." falloff

WTF?? lol Horrendous dialogue in that one, but I'm not the biggest John Singleton fan as it is... can you tell? confused

biggrin

Yeah RIP Tupac. People can say whatever they want but Tupac was a great artist. He made you FEEL. Ten years after his death, his work makes me FEEL as much now as ever. I think thats the main point of art and he was masterful at it.

Love that part nod Tupac was at his greatest in this movie, it just proved that he could play more than just some thug trying to rob a liquor store...he could actually play a brother who was actually trying to live his life right without all the illegal bullshit involved. That family reunion scene was priceless. lol
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

That movie SUCKED!!! I was a sophomore in high school...or was it junior? Damn, I was going into my senior year if it was 94. Had to had been 93 when it came out. I agree...go take a film class or film criticsm class...then you may agree with us. Well .... film classes ruined almost all american film for me.

I'd prefer Juice, King of New York, if you are looking for 90's "Black Film". Singleton's attempt at a Black Women's issue movie turned into one big cliche. It sucked...Like Belly sucked.

Tupac Shmoopac. Besides Biggie...does anyone remember Big L? (May he rest in peace) Freaky Tah?

Everyone says I'm commiting blasphemy, but he was so corny!

Bad acting, the storyline was jacked...but sadly it was realistic because that stuff happens in real life...young single mothers trying to take care of their children while they are also taking care of low life "baby boys" who constantly cheat on them behind their back with no job, no car, and no life playing video games all day when they should be looking for a job. And all the while still call themselves a man.....PLEASE!!! That movie pissed me off pissed

that movie was crazy, I wish I would let a guy, who has no job and no intentions of getting one, use my car to take ME to work in while he drives around all day chillin' with his friends, playing video games and sleeping with other women disbelief i don't see how some women let this happen....
