you know whats even worse actually? (cue big rant) A large part of a womans purpose, or role (dont start with me on this one, im not gonna be pc!) on this planet is to bear children. Now, while some people, and some men, will eventually see that a pregnant woman is beautiful, and a mother who has given birth is a miracle, society, and many people will always see this model, as true beauty. Going on from what I said about just being able to walk or lift things - can she give birth?! I'd be surprised if she could even menstruate.

Im sorry folks, thats the cold hard truth the way I see it. Where I was brought up, women bore 5-10 children and raised them all, doing everything, while the man, if he was there, worked all day. Thats the kind of woman I admire, thats how I see a strong woman. Not this. I'd much rather have the muscles I do in my arms, gained through good old fashioned hard work, than concentrate on getting into a size 10.

ok im done now boxed

hug highfive Hon...KEEP your viewpoint...don't let anyone or anything change that...you've got the exact idea of what a natural woman is and should be. smile

nod I know, nad Im not going to change wink

I just think a real woman, the kind that raised my mother and her 7 siblings, and her sister-in-laws 8 boys as well after their father died, is the kind who should be praised, regardless of her looks. I dont give a fuck what that model looks like. Shes totally irrelevant to me. We need to give models and the like less attention, its soul destroying.

Ditto...sure I'm a bit chubby, but I'm HEALTHY. It really disgusts me that people like this woman are held up as the standard of beauty (i.e. fashion models) and to say that's not right is really a landmark decision, I think. An woman who was "overweight" wouldn't even be considered for the catwalk, but this gal was...but, yet, those who support the diet industry would say that both are "unhealthy" hmmm

I have a couple of friends that are very naturally skinny. Most of them are uncomfortable about the way they look because they are always told that they are too skinny and are not healthy.

They are perfectly healthy. Not all thin people are starving themselves.

It's interesting to me that people who are always freaking out that people make fun of people who are fat often seem to have no problem making fun of very thin people.

But to answer the question about that girl, I find curvier women more attractive and I do not find her face very attractive at all.

The fact of the matter is that this "woman" is nothing more than an unhealthy prepubescent girl and almost certainly infertile. I firmly believe that to send this image as “ideal” to young women is preposterous.

France could easily follow suit and ban models being too thin just as Spain has. France would never do this because the fashion industry is too important to their economy.

i normally weight about 180-190 lbs. i went up to about 210 lbs and got a lot of "chubby", "big-boy" jokes. then i had acute diabetic reaction and dropped down to about 140 lbs over an 8 month period--then i heard the whispers about crackhead, AIDS and other stuff. now that i'm back to 190 lbs self, i see the difference between the "big" me and the "small" me.
when you lose or gain a more than 20-40 pounds, people like to talk. simple as that.
