everybody should wait tables once in their lives - it's a tough job. former or current waiters/waitresses are the best tippers.

Were you a cabbie as well, Anx?? smile

I can see you doing the funny stories thing, driving around all day. smile

"I had Anx in the front of my cab the other day..."

(That actually sounds like a fantastic idea... I should learn to drive... hmmm)

no, i've never been a cabbie, but i've been on too many cab rides with friends for whom i had tons of respect until i witnessed how they treated cab drivers. that shit just isn't acceptable.

Its the same with how people treat waiters, shop assistants, anyone... its long been said that this is a great way to judge a potential/new date! And I agree - yes, we all have our off days, but theres no excuse for the way some people speak to service staff.

agreed.

i mean, just today on my work break, i got HORRIBLE service when i went out to buy some clothes. the cashier just wadded up my clothes and stashed them in the bag like we were at a garage sale! plus, she was engrossed in some conversation on her headset, which i wouldn't doubt she had hooked up to her cell phone instead of whatever store walkie talkie system they have.

i didn't say a word. when she finished, i took out all my purchases and folded them. miss thing just walked off until i was done.

i didn't say anything to her, but i will be complaining to the store. and princess's name is on the receipt. all i care about is that this isn't the standard by which i can expect to be treated at this store.

a coupon would be nice, too. lol

I wouldn't eat in a place which didn't have service included in the prices. It's tantamount to slavery.

Oh, I should point out that I always tip - even if service is included in the prices. I just wouldn't knowingly eat any place where the waiting staff had to rely on tips.

I'm also likely to tip more if service staff look downtrodden, harrassed or suicidal.
