It's all relative...
I've been told by Americans in the south and on either coast that I sound like a New England snob. When I'm particularly calm, I'm told I sound like some sort of priest or something. Just last week, I was told by Canadians that I sound like George W. Bush. Usually, though, I'm roundly complimented on my voice. So I dunno. I think I usually sound something like Richard Dreyfuss minus the manic giggling... and I don't like it. [Edited 9/12/06 10:08am] Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Why don't you describe my voice: http://youtube.com/watch?v=tIjokToiMx0 You sound EXACTLY as I imagined. I love your voice! When I spoke to him on the phone, I immediately got a picture of his face in my mind. He sounded exactly like I thought I would too. Some folks' "voices" just really come through in their writing. Richard is one of those people. The Normal Whores Club

Hopkins has one of the coolest voices in Hollywood. That's great. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Alun!
I have a very strong accent, stronger than I used to when I actually lived where Im from. I tone it down all the time but when Im talking to school friends or my Mum im myself! Much deeper and much much more slang! It must go up at least an octave for my "telephone voice"!

From what I remember, I wouldn't call your accent strong. I'm quite similar. I have my telephone voice (in work only, otherwise customers wouldn't understand a word I say ). But when I was growing up, everyone used to accuse me of trying to talk 'posh'. As far as I knew, I was only talking the way that I talked. It's just my accent was never as strong as everybody else's.
