The reason why I ask this is because if you look up the word "chick" in the dictionary, one of the definitions is: "an attractive girl or young woman (slang) (sometimes considered offensive)." I guess it depends on how the word is used as to whether it would offend someone or not. I find myself calling another female a "chick" if I don't like them, usually in a disparaging way. What do you think?

I don't get offended over "chick." About the only thing that gets to me is something that I fixed awhile back. It came to my attention that,even though it was meant affectionately, my fiance had referred to me as his "old lady." I wasn't offended necessarily, but that more or less conjures up a very negative image. I know he didn't mean it badly, but I'm definitely glad I told him I thought calling me that sucked and why and he saw fit to cease. This one's for you. | |
