For those of you who care about fashion.. Like me!!! I just got "Glamour's big book of Do's and Don'ts" from the editor for Glamour magazine. It's awesome! It tells you the rules of fashion as it applies to today and shows you what works for certain body types or how to look for certain occasions. You shows you how to look sexy without looking too ridiculious...how too look professional without looking too overdone...it's awesome! I would recomend this to anyone woman who has been wondering how to achive a modern, chic, sexy look.

Hey I'm all about having your own style and fashion sense. Your wardrobe should reflect your personality. But you should give it a chance..there is alot of good advice in here...and the pictures are hilarious! I can't believe some of the stuff women choose to walk around in...not that it is necessarily their fault...you can be quite oblivious to how ridiclious you can look sometimes if you don't put a lot of thought into fashion.

i like to think of my look as 'barbara cartland-ish' My style is kinda New York chic. Or that is what I strive for. My favorite look is a form fitting sweater or top with, tight jeans and high heels or high heeled boots. I don't like anything too revealing or too conservative. I like how Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima and Gisele dress. Lingere wise though I like cross between Fredrick's of Hollywood meets Penthouse magazine...old school slightly trashy is ok when it's lingere. Men love that...men don't really go for boy shorts and cotton.

I hate rules. I like fashion magazines, but I would never spend money on a whole book about how to dress. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I buy what I want to wear, not what some book tells me too. Fashion magazines are good for ideas. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! REAL MUSIC by REAL MUSICIANS - Prince "I kind of wish there was a reason for Prince to make the site crash more" ~~ Ben |

I'm fascinated by what do's and don't's there are. Over time you kinda just develop a sense of your own style and the shapes that suit you best! You know you've got your own lil thing happening when someone blurts out 'that is SO you!' I picked up a dress on layby for my birthday. It's a beautiful red, kinda lacy-like fabric only not (hard to describe, but it's viscose)- the straps are braided, the top bit is low cut and folds over and it has a tie at the waist and the skirt is short and flouncy with layerz and it has a brooch with black and red feathers coming out of it! Very latina. I'm gonna wear it with gold strappy shoes with diamontes which i've had for ages (got em on sale!) and i got a bunch of accesories like this gold anchor pendant on chain and these mad ass earrings which will actually show up againt my dark hair which will be in spirals and a very cool bracelet too...will probably wear another bracelet i got since my 21st bday which looks like a gold serpent with diamontes for the eyes. :omfg; I'm so excited about this bloody outfit i took it into work, cause i picked it up on my lunchbreak and ALLLLL the girls were around me n they were just LOOOVED it and said 'Aww Mel, that's SO YOU!!' It's such a damn sexy dress, whenever i look at it i'm mezmerised!! THAT RED!! No hablo espanol,no!
Pero hablo ingles..ssii muy muy bien... "Come into my world..." Missy Quote of da Month: "yeah, sure, that's cool...wait WHAT?! "

I think it's important to be fashionable yet comfortable... To me, that is the epitome of style - someone whom can wear current trends and not look uncomfortable.

I think tips are never bad - you can pick up the good ones & leave out the bad I think it's easy to think we know what's best & be surprised when something can be improved upon. I'm always open to doing things a better way

Most of the "do's and don't's" are alrigth I guess, But I was never exactly thrilled with how tattoos, piercings, and coloured hair were always labelled Don'ts and made fun of. Seems you're only a "Do" if you all look and dress exactly the same. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

They're just talking about general rules for general mf's - it's a definite don't for most of the people reading their mag There's rules & then there's individual style - the latter would scare off their Walmart customers

I guess my issue isn't just with Glamour, but with women's magazine's in general. (including the fashion sections of gossip rags like People and Us Weekly) If you have a style that looks exactly like what everybody else is wearing, then you're a Do. If you wear something a bit offbeat, even if it looks good and is flattering, you're a Don't. That's stupid. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I think if you need a book on how to be fashionable, chances are you never will be? It's all about your own style, like Melissa said.
Just a thought... | |
