New York...Carnegie Deli, Central Park(great run, walk) Museums, always unique exhibits, can probably do it cheap, I don't know how? Anyone can contribute here who might know. Few times I've been there are always lifelong experiences. Shopping in Soho saw Mario Batelli walking along in pink socks and orange clogs. Thought he was gay. Street stuff...in downtown Manhatten...with a friend who's an attorney.."keep moving, all that entertainment going on distracts from the pickpockets working in the background". LOVE the place.

L.A. all day everyday and twice a week on Sunday.... Plus NYC is way overpriced and doesn't have nice beaches like us!

No question: NYC.

LA is soul-less, polluted...just not as nice as NYC at all. All my friends who have visited both also choose NYC hands down over LA. nod NYC rocks.

Are you trying to decided which city to move to? Or just visit?

If you're going to move to one or the other, here are some things to consider:

You wouldn't need a car in NYC, the subway can take you pretty much anywhere you need to go. Technically you can get around via public transportation in LA (I've done it), but it's a pain in the ass.

Will you be looking for a job? What field/career? If you have aspirations to be on the silver screen or in music, then LA is the place to go. But if you are in fashion, art, finance, acting (Broadway), journalism then you gotta be in NYC. (Politics? DC. wink )

Then there's the weather. New York in the summer is awful. It smells, it's hot, it's humid, did I mention it smells? And winter is cold and snowy (which I love). LA of course is more temperate, but there's the possibility of earthquakes or forest fires, right? And smog...and pesky sunshine. lol.

Don't forget the nightlife. LA bars close at 1am, right? It's all about the 'after-party.' Here bars are open all night. New York City never sleeps, ever...you want Indian food at 4am? No problem. You want pizza at 4:30am, and bagel and lox at 5am? You can have it! You can walk around Times Square at 3am and there are so many people out you'd think it was 9pm.

And culture: Broadway, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, museums galore! You can get cheap/free tickets to a lot of stuff if you know where to look...(I just saw Sweeney Todd for free last Friday.)

NYC gets my vote. Admittedly, I'm biased, but honestly, New York has it all!

cool

orgnote me if you have specific questions about NYC, I'd be happy to try to answer them.
