again, the pets have to undergo surgery to fix (pun intended) what humans have let get out of hand - the terribly overpopulation and subsequent mass-euthanasia of unwanted animals.

Yes, it is, thank you. hmph!

Obviously LleeLlee doesn't appreciate a fine poodle grooming, but I know some of you out there will appreciate the subtlety in my handiwork:

very good scissor job (i worked at a groomery), but i think llee-llee is asking what the point of those cuts is. i know the reason the cut is as it is is to keep the joints that the hair covers warm to protect the joints, as poodles are notorious for arthritis, but she's asking why cut it at all.

It shouldn't be.

That site has a gallery of dogs who got to keep their tails, despite members of their respective breeds typically being docked. . . really cool. . .
http://www.vets.org.nz/Ne...allery.htm

i'm glad they're showing what can happen when docking goes wrong...

i know there are some arguments for clipping ears (in nature, most animals have pointed ears to allow for moisture to escape, and many dogs were purposely bred to have floppy ears.) but seeing that floppy ears are now the norm amongst many dogs, why not just spend more time on keeping dogs' ears clean and healthy?

Yeah, it's a cool site.

It's true that dogs with floppy ears DO get more ear infections. But they're preventable. And the real reason that people crop ears is breed convention. . . you never hear advocates of ear cropping suggest that ALL floppy-eared dogs be cropped. Just THEIR breed. rolleyes

i think they are. after all, they are able to lick themselves with their own tongue. personally (although i'm no expert) i think that might lead to feelings of affection smile

they were bread as water retivers "gundogs"
the long lionmane was left to keep dogs vital organs warm during cold water swims
feet puffs were to keep feet joints warm

puff on tail is to track ( see ) dog in water as he swam

the shaved areas were to help prevent waterlog and prevent sticks abd barbs from sticking in fur

But they are no longer used for this purpose right?

our mini-dauschand is petrified of all other animals. loves humans, though.

it's really cute. when you walk her, she's just trotting along happily, just overcome with happiness, practically whistling and then she'll se another dog and freeze, and then slink low to the ground as far away from the other dog as the leash will allow.

Poodles are one of the handful of Dog Breeds that grow hair instead of fur.

Most dog's have fur. The fur grows to a lenght and style and then is shead.

Few dogs have hair. It will grow and grow, and grow until you cut it. It can be styled.

People cut and style their poodles because people style and cut their hair in strange ways. Do you forget the 80's hair dos? Quite Poodlesk if you ask me.

My first thoughts were 'dogs of Satan' but that's flippin' ridiculous lol Coz I don't think "The Omen" would've had the same impact with those things in it.
