Why do people who own Poodles make them look...

ridiculous? what is with poodles and grooming? Is it an art form?
Theyre the cheesiest looking dogs ever. Frankly I'd be embarrassed to walk down the street with a Poodle looking like he's on his way to a hot date. Dont get me wrong, I dont hate 'em or anything, I just wouldnt want one shrug

I thought they were originally used for hunting in Europe a couple of hundred years ago, and they kept those padded places on them to keep them warm. But I have no idea why they shaved them in the first place. lol Because that's what the aristocrats did with their dogs? shrug

they were bread as water retivers "gundogs"
the long lionmane was left to keep dogs vital organs warm during cold water swims
feet puffs were to keep feet joints warm

puff on tail is to track ( see ) dog in water as he swam

the shaved areas were to help prevent waterlog and prevent sticks abd barbs from sticking in fur

It shouldn't be.

That site has a gallery of dogs who got to keep their tails, despite members of their respective breeds typically being docked. . . really cool. . .

and how about spaying and neutering? i mean, doesn't that destroy the trust relationship? doesn't the dog awaken and say "hey! i USED to have testicles. then you brought me here, i went to sleep and.... say what? they're GONE??!!!! some friend YOU are, human!"

i'm glad they're showing what can happen when docking goes wrong...

i know there are some arguments for clipping ears (in nature, most animals have pointed ears to allow for moisture to escape, and many dogs were purposely bred to have floppy ears.) but seeing that floppy ears are now the norm amongst many dogs, why not just spend more time on keeping dogs' ears clean and healthy?

again, the pets have to undergo surgery to fix (pun intended) what humans have let get out of hand - the terribly overpopulation and subsequent mass-euthanasia of unwanted animals.
