Awww sorry to hear that July hug ... I hope you can lighten it a bit later. I hate those days when I feel like that so I can sympathise with how you're feeling right now.

you can click & read... the story has a happy ending now.. after 8 years she could escape and the kidnapper committed suicide. chicken.

that story is currently all over the news around here in Austria for 24/7 (well.. almost)... it was one most media covered criminal cases in recent history here and made some headlines every few years when supposedly "new info" surfaced... let's just hope, that the girl won't get stuck too deep in permanent psychological problems
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

It's actually good news - not that she was held captive for 8 years - but that she's alive and well. Most people who are abducted, if they are ever found, are found dead.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

One thing I didn't understand from reading the headlines over here was whether the guy committed suicide before or after she escaped? Has that been reported in Austria yet?

after. obviously the guy forgot to lock the door to the girls "prison", and when he left the house, she could escape... the girl was picked up and identified by the police and immediately they started a big chase for the kidnapper all over the greaer Vienna area... found his car, raided his house and the flat of his mother, but all were empty... he could escape and was on the run for several hours.. but in the evening he realised he wouldn't have a chance in the long run and killed himself

oh wow thanks for that Dancelot ... I didn't realise all that happened. Sounds a bit like the OJ chase. Maybe I'll switch on Sky News now in case it's reported there. Cheers.

it is amazing that despite her stockholm syndrome that she did leave her hole and manage to get assistance. hopefully she gets all the psychological help she needs.

he had been questioned initially as the owner of a van like the kidnapper. so sad that he didn't raise any suspicion at the time and that she had to endure 8 years.
doveShe couldn't stop crying 'cause she knew he was gone to stay dove

Yeah, he was one of about 1000 people that owned such a car. He said he needed it for some renovating of the house and pretended to have an alibi as well, so the police didn't investigate any further sigh. Moreover the police was never really sure if the story about the white van and the 2 people inside that 12 year old witness had seen was just a product of her imagination sigh...

Yeah, police was thinking that she might have been a victim of some child porn organisation for some years...

I don't understand the fact that she didn't want to meet her father.

It seems that there were quite some problems in her family even before she was kidnapped, even though she denies it sigh.

There are ploblems in many families these 8 years must have been Hell for her father,it seems that there are many aspects of this story that are not clear yet. I wonder how many people out there are like her kidnapper was, with no friends, no closefamily, almost any social life at all.

Sure it was hell for her, but it is likely that there were severe problems in her family before sigh. Though I always had the impression she had a closer relationship with her father than her mother.

He had a very close relationship with his mother who was one of the 2 people who attended his funeral today. Natasche feels very sorry for her as she thinks it is her responsibility that she lost her son.
