Maybe someone never taught then to pick out the bits of food that comingle in the butter.

The WORST! I just had a flashback as to what some kid used to do. They used to take a sip from their drink and spit it back into the same bottle/glass. They called it backwashing. I remember one incident where we were outside for P.E and one boy had a bottled drink and his friend goes up to him. He asks for a sip and the boy tells him "Yeah, you can, but I just backwashed it that". The friend who's dying of thirst says "I don't care", and takes a sip anyway
