yeah, i know. and no need to apologize - everything's offensive to someone, i just lucked out and offended you. hug

while i'm not usually the kind of person who enjoys explaining his humor, it is important for me to not be viewed as an adoptionist bigot. so. given the context of the original comment, in which jers said he was sick of being called "dad", i made my comment to mean that if his kids thought their biological father was someone else, perhaps they wouldn't call him "dad". it wasn't an insult toward the adopted/adoptive community at all. some of my best friends were adopted! sometimes i feel like i might have been adopted, but i look too much like my parents. i used to fantasize about it when i was a kid, but every time i looked in the mirror, i knew i was stuck with my parents' genes. how do you think that makes ME feel?

anyway. i'm gonna go watch some 'mind of mencia' now and enjoy some nice, wholesome jokes about homos and fat chicks.

No worries...I usually don't get offended by stuff people say here but I'm kinda sensitive about that issue. I know you didn't say it with malice, but there could be people who read it and don't understand how a comment like that could be hurtful, so I was responding more for that reason.

It's all good, thank you for the nice response. hug

Sorry to be such a thread downer... confused

s'ok...sometimes the way i say things can rub people the wrong way, and that's cool. i'm always willing to explain what i really mean...but i'm afraid i'm stuck with being a miserable smartass for the rest of my life. sad

you all know that by "adopted" i mean "people who are destined for success", right? i didn't mean anything offensive by it. that would be totally faggy of me.

It's ok, I have gay friends (Imago), so you know we're cool. biggrin

look, i know people who come from single parent households. i've seen the edgy shit.

I never liked my name, but I dont think I would want to change it.
My family has a nickname they call me. So, the only people who call me by my real name are a few friends and the people at work. Close friends use my nickname as well
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

for a minute, i was going to change my last name to my middle name, and my mom was going to change her last name to my middle name, and that was going to be the new family name.

people had a lot of kooky ideas in the '90s. i'm glad idealism died with the 20th century. nod

every time you people got excited about your moon launch walks or your color television or whatever, i was always very supportive and pretended to be interested every single time. i never really approved of the 20th century lifestyle, but as long as your kind was happy and not parading yourselves in front of me, i was fine with it. so leave me alone!

Teacher

I wanted to in 4th grade, when they merged two classes and we ended up with no less than 3 Jenny. I got called Stridh (last name) in class after that, usually followed by "off with the jacket, spit out the gum and take your feet off the desk". It's a longass name confused
