So what causes it? Is it like some sort of "Shock" reaction - I don't have a problem with Needles, So it wasn't fear related....Which is one of the reasons people do Faint.

As a result of the giving blood? It doesn't sound likely if you've been a blood donor.

To both Jersey and Supa.

Giving Blood isn't as scary as it seems and you get a free Cup of Tea and Biscuit afterwards lol Its also nice to know that maybe that Pint goes to help someone life - There was and probably still is a shortage of Donors in the UK, So although I guess I was selfish in effect I enjoyed it cuz I knew it would do some good, that in turn made me feel good smile

Jersey - Theres nowt wrong with being afraid of Needles, Hell I have to be sedated for any Dental treatment.....Thats my Nemesis !!!

thumbs up!

Plus it's amazing how quickly people get over their fear of needles when they're the ones needing the blood wink

It's a very worthy thing to do - well done you!

The needles are so thin nowadays you can't even feel them. I can't donate my blood unfortunately but I have to give regular blood samples .. honestly it doesn't hurt at all and you wonder what all the fuss is about after you've done it once.

Well, they have 3 of those tubes full of my blood (I gotta find out what they are called !!) So if there is anything wrong I am sure it will become present.

They did check my Blood Sugar etc, that was all fine. I guess it could be a lot of stuff - You can't eat or drink for 12 Hours prior to being Leeched, so it may even have been that simple.....I was hungry or thirsty .....Who knows ??

Woke up this morning, feeling wonderful, had a great nights sleep and felt really refreshed.

Then I go to my Appointment with the Nurse to have my Bloods done, you know the one where they drain out 3 of those little Tubes of Blood. All is going well, until a minute or two after the nurse had finished. Started with that queasy stomachy feeling you get, then my head goes all light and wishy washy....BAM !!...Next thing I know I am waking up with people standing over me and an oxygen mask on - I was thinking "What the Hell are you doing in my bedroom !!" I didn't even realise where I was confused Very scary, as I was drifiting in and out of consciousness for a minute or so - Next thing I know there are 3 Paramedics there linking me to an ECG eek

Turns out my Blood Pressure kinda disappeared and my heart rate kinda went along with it for the trip neutral The Nurse obvioously needed to be sure I was ok so she called them.

Got to the Hospital and a 'really caring' Nurse wittered on about how it was all in my Head and I should't be scared of Needles - Funny, I used to give blood and they used Needles like whaling Harpoons what makes you think I am frightened of them??

Amazingly while all this was going on a woman in reception was complaining about how she was made to wait for her appointment with the Nurse eek So much for Human Compassion lol

I am ok now, mostly a little embarressed razz

Woah, glad you're okay. hug
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I understand that much, The BP drops and it can't be pumped round enough hence lack of blood to the head and then you faint? I am just puzzled as to why?? lol

I have developed a Morbid Fascination now !! lol

I'd be the same ... I had a similar BP drop after an op, which I think is normal, but what was abnormal was the amount of time I was in the Recovery Room and how many drips they had to give me to get me back to normal. I never found out what happened and wish I had because it's made me nervous about going for other ops now.

I hope you find the answer! biggrin

Did you eat anything or drink any kind of alcholic beverage before you had the work done? If so, maybe that screwed something up.

No I was very good.....No Alcohol since saturday night. No food or Drink for 12 hours prior to the Bloods being taken, although I had a Glass of water at bedtime, which you are allowed to do.

Maybe I am just getting old and my body can't hack it no more !!!! lol
