transitions are hard

I'm starting pre-med classes on the 25th. For the first time in my adult life, I will be attending school full-time and NOT working! woot! My last day at work is the 15th, and then I've got a roadtrip to San Francisco happening in-between.

I'm happy about all of this, for the most part (I'm a little scared, particularly about the financial bit), but the transition is stressing me out. I just want it to be DONE. I'm being such a slacker at work because my head has already moved on (and the student loan check has already been deposited lol ). . . I'm just ready to be in a new groove, but it's not time yet, and it's hard.

I suspect it will be on the other end, too. I finished my BA in 2003, and haven't set foot in a classroom since then. I know that getting back into the student thing, with all of the good and bad that comes with that, will be . . . interesting. And I *have* to do really well, as far as GPA, so there can be no screwing around. Gotta nail it.

So. Say something helpful. smile

Y'all are very sweet, and I appreciate the encouragement and advice.

I'm still not sure how I'm gonna get through the next month with my sanity intact, but, thanks. smile

Sure is a good thing I can spend all day on the Org, or getting through the rest of my time at this job would absolutely kill me. lol It feels like senioritis, except at work instead of school.

I just had two competing and equally scary thoughts.

- I could be posting a thread about graduating from med school. . . you know. . . someday. . . a million years from now. lol Meaning, I'm still dinking around here a million years from now. omg

- A residency probably isn't going to permit time for Orging. omg

You can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. nod

Channel all your energy into it at first, it'll be hard because it will feel like you're not having any fun, but then you will work out a system that will work.

Whenever you're feeling your faith waver, just think about how much you WANT this and NEED this and you will do it because it needs to get done.

I know that I don't know you personally, but I know that you are very intelligent and determined and that's all you need.

Trust me. You can do this. nod

sounds like a pretty fabulous change to me. if i were you, i'd just jump into it head first and let the change in your daily routines mold you as they will.

i'm continuing to have a huge year of change, and i'm just now starting to recognize the rewards, even from the bad changes.

you'll do great. nod

I'm trying to keep an open mind about that, but if I had to choose right now, I'd be a neurologist.

Any interest in being a dermatologist? I ask because I just made an appointment with mine, and she's booked solid for over one month. mad My HMO's website has this notice posted:

Due to a nationwide shortage of dermatologists, wait times for dermatology appointments for non-emergency care have increased. We apologize for the inconvenience. Although you can still self-refer to see a Group Health dermatologist, you may have to wait up to several months.

Something tells me that that docs finishing up a dermatology residency have plenty of job opportunities available to them.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

Diapers! That's a genius idea! biggrin

It would remove my orging opportunity, though. I was thinking I could get some kind of internet-capable cell phone and org while I use the potty. hmmm
