Donk Berry Punana Smoothy - YUM

This is a tart/sour smoothy, though you may add sugar or honey if you so desire to make it a bit sweeter. You can also put a drop of vanilla extract in there.

Ingrediants:

1) ½ banana (or whole if you want)
2) A small handful of raspberries
3) A small handful of Blueberries
4) A small handful of fresh pineapple
5) About 3 or 4 strawberries
6) About a cup (or a little more) of Fruit Juice (I like Cran-Raspberry Ocean Spray or Strawberry-Kiwi from Ocean Spray).
7) a half cup to a cup (Depending on preference) of ice cubes
8) One Orange

Throw it all ingredients into a blender EXCEPT the orange. Cut the orange in half, and squeeze the orange juice into the blender. (smoothy blenders are the best because they ensure you don’t have any ice chunks in your smoothy). Mix for 1 minute on regular speed, and 30 seconds on high speed, and you’re done.

If strawberries are out of season, sqeeze half a lemon into your blender. Lemon for some reason makes strawberries taste as fresh as the would in early spring.

Facts about the smoothy ingredients:

1) Banana – contains tryptophan, which fights depression. Among other things, bananas also contain Vitamin B6 and Vitamin C, as well as potassium.
2) Raspberries – contain 50% more antioxidants than Strawberries and up to 10 times more than that of tomatoes. It contains a very powerful antioxidant phytochemical called ellagic acid.
3) BlueBerries – The pigment in blueberries fight free radical damage in both the skin and brain, among other things. Blueberries are a vanity fruit. If you want to look and feel younger, include these in your diet. Blueberries may also aid in keeping the brain sharp into old age.
4) Pinapple - Pineapples are rich in manganese, a trace mineral that is needed for your body to build bone. Soothes coughs and colds, dissolves warts, aids with diarrhea and constipation, and helps with swelling and healing.
5) Strawberries – contain ellagitannin, a very powerful antioxidant that helps to protect the heart, among other things.
6) Oranges – contains liminoids (anti-oxidants) which help to protect against cancer of the mouth, skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon

If you have smoothy recipes you'd like to share,
please do. biggrin

Reincarnate

I had a lovely smoothie in Hong Kong this year, called a Nutty Professor.

It was peanut butter, natural yoghurt, soya milk and banana. I liked it so much I emailed my cousin about it (she's also a big fan of smoothies and juices) and have been making it since I got back.

Throw in some strawberries and a bit of honey, it it becomes a "PBJ"

I love peanut butter themed smoothies, though they're more of a guilty pleasure than the straight-up fruit ones. drool
