allow me to stick up for Ben. I use humor and sarcasm in every aspect of my life. It's part of my personality. I'm saddened by the man's death, especially since he has two young children. It wasn't saying "good riddance, glad the man is fucking dead". Just a simple poke at life. Then again, a good friend of mine once told me "Chris, you have to remember, not everyone has your twisted view on the world"
So, I understand how some could be offended, but it wasn't done with malice. RIP to him and prayers to his family.

In New Orleans they hold parades and play music..in Irish cultures there's almost a party celebrating the life of the departed one.. if people want to deal with a situation they're uncomfortable with, by using humor, i completely understand it

I started this thread out of sadness and earlier on made a joke almost immediately! But then removed it because I thought certain people might take offense. And all it was was this: He should either have the words "Crikey!" or "Danger, Danger!" on his tombstone. No big deal. It's still very sad. And even if it's a stupid joke, it's better than a thread full of tears. He was a joyful man; had a GREAT sense of humour about HIMSELF. I don't think he'd be offended for being remembered in the same way. . [Edited 9/4/06 6:20am]

And it was not so much (or rather at all) the picture that I commented on, but your line "I speak on behalf of the morally conscious because I'm virtually pissing myself laughing". That felt kind of wrong to me.

The irony is, if U surveyed a Steve Irwin audience, 8 out of 10 would have eaten crocodile and/or kangaroo steaks..

This is so sad. You could tell that he loved what he was doing and that love made it fun to see him on his Crocodile show. I didn't watch it much but I watched a few episodes and I thought it was really interesting. What I got out of his show was that if you respect nature, nature will respect you. My prayers are with him and his family. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

i'm still shocked...i can't believe he's dead. I had a teacher who passed away a year later after i graduated and one of my friends said why couldn't he have died while he was teaching us...he wasn't a bad teacher and that was horrible thing to say....but yeah....can't believe he's (steve) gone...he was awesome and a great man. Its sad when anyone leaves to soon.
I am happy for him in the respect that he passed doing what he loved to do so much. I only hope people can keep the semi riskay jokes to themselves atleast until his wife is back and has been properly, respectfully informed of her Husband and father of her children's abrupt and unexpected passing. Imagine finding out your better half is GONE in a flurry of tasteless jokes. absolutely uncool and mentally punishing and not needed. Full on prayers on this labor day for him and all that just may need a unspoken prayer . Mr.Irwin Thank you for your dedication to teaching, patience with nature and your profound understanding of all living things.

He said something along the lines of "if my brother was here now he'd say 'crocs rock!'"
