Anyone been watching the marathon on Nick at Nite?

Although it is great to see the cast together again I would rather see some of the other characters like Kim, Mr. Gaines, and Col. Taylor. I heard that Kim who played by Charnele is living rough nowadays.
I was shocked as hell of seeing Lisa Bonet considerably she refused to do the Cosby show yet she was on their longer than A Different World even if she was the starred for one season.

I just heard that they cancelled the second season released on DVD due to rights issues , and therefore I better start recorded them on Nick at Nite.

Kim was, by far, the most interesting woman on the show -- or at least the most attractive. She was WAY underutilized. What's up with the actress playing her? What have you heard?

I'm also not surprised to hear that Lisa Bonet would do this, despite the fact she didn't do the Cosby reunion. Her reason for not doing the Cosby reunion had to do with what she thought was a sort of fixation on ratings, money and ego on the part of Mr. Cosby. She said she "just didn't feel the love." A Different World, to me, always had a different impetus. It can't have been a huge cash cow for NBC, but it had a loyal niche audience, and it did wonders for portraying young blacks in a someone lesser seen light. There was no show quite like that one.

I agreed the first season is boring as hell. It got better after Denise left the show. It deal with some serious issues too like rape, aids, racism, etc. I like ron too and he is so devious in an innocent way. I wished that they kept maggie though but debbie allen said nbc fired her because they believed that it was unrealistic of a white girl going to a all-black college. Marisa was pissed but then later she went onto winning an oscar.
It sucks that ADW season 2 and beyond might not get released anytime soon.

Here is the information I got from someone who know her:
Charnell Brown who played Kim is not faring well at all--she's divorced and lives with a friend of my brother's in the greater Los Angeles area in a small apartment, is low on funds and has almost NO acting jobs coming in. She's been here and there but nothing steady..."

It is sad too. i think that she is such a wonderful actress and all. It even makes me sad that she played from someone like Kim Reese to a nurse on My Wife and Kids and fitness instructor on Martin. i guess that she do what she have to do to put food on the table and trying to make it financial but I feel that she deserves more.

and I also noticed that she was the only of the main characters was absent from the reunion when I seen it this week. Maybe she is too depressed with the things going on with her life.

Awwwww, when I was little I wanted to be Whitley sooooo bad.

I saw something a year or two ago where a few cast members talked about the series in general but Lisa Bonet wasn't there - is this a new reunion show?

And that show was MY SHIT for real, it got so damn good as it went on (except for when Ron & Freddie started fucking around )

Whitley went on a date with Ron to make Dwayne jealous
Whitley's engagement party
Whitley's (almost) wedding to Byron but Dwayne interrupted it (please, baby please!!!)

They were fighting over something (furniture, not talking, SOMETHING) - Dwayne walks into the cafeteria & basically tells her he's tired of the fighting, he ain't havin' it & they were gonna go home RIGHT NOW & work it out. I am the minor here but I like the last season when they introduce to the new characters especially Jada and Bumper Robinson's character. I remember the last season like real time how NBC and Fox got Martin and A Different World going against each other and that Martin basically stolen A Different World audience. And I too remembered how A Different World was on hiatus for months before came back with the series finale and also aired some unaired episodes in summer 1993.

Was Whitley supposed to be an aunttom or what?

I went to the Nick at Nite website and all of the interviews were pretty nice. It's good to see most of the cast looking pretty good after all these years...

Cree Summer looks way better now than she did back then, Jasmine Guy looks the same, Kadeem looks a tad better than he did back then, Ron (i've always thought that Ron was cute) looks aight with the bald head, but he would look better with a little hair on the dome, and Jaleesa looks great as well.

It kinda had me secretly wishing that they had some kind of "A Different World" reunion show like as an extra episode or something like that....

Was Marisa Tomei in the reunion?

I also remember that some of the Wayans siblings were extras or had small speaking parts in the first season.

It was a shame how they ended they show. It looked like something thrown together. My cousin, who was a production assistant on the show, was an extra on that episode.

I didn't like the fact that NBC had the show again Martin either because people choose to watch Martin over A Different World.

I just watched the interviews on the website, they were GREAT

I'm glad Cree & dude knew their shit was cheesy on the show, I was like DAMN why they gotta interview them TOGETHER But they were hella funny remembering all that stuff.

Dawn Lewis' interview was great

I don't think I knew Cree & Kadeem were dating during the show

I'd forgotten how many people have passed through that show & Debbie Allen's intv. reminded me - Whoopi, Patti LaBelle, etc. DAMN, it was a truly great show... & with "Kim" in so many of the clips her absence is really apparent - I hope things turn around for her & life gets better

Come to think of it, why didn't they intv. Jada?? She was very apparent in those last few seasons
