I've been working as a traffic producer for the past year and a half. My schedule has pretty much sucked. I've worked every weekend from noon-8pm and then some overnights during the week. My son and I haven't spent a weekend together in over a year. I am the only single working mom in my department. Just recently I've started working as a weekend traffic producer/REPORTER. It's so much fun to have my voice on six radio stations an to get to know all the DJ's and stuff, but these hours are killing me! There's a new young girl in traffic that can switch hours with me. That will mean that I can actually have some time on the weekends to hang out with my kid, but it means that I'll only be on the air for two hours (down from six in my current time slot). I know this means that she will have more opportunity to be heard and in radio repetition is everything. God, this sucks!!! I wanna be a famous radio personality. I want all the DJ's to know and love me as the weekend traffic person. But I know that time with my kid is the most important thing. I'm just so tired of always having to make these kind of decisions. I always do the "right thing" for my family, which is usually the "wrong thing" for a career. THIS SUCKS!!!! I guess I'm just venting. WHy does everything have to be so hard?
