I did it! I joined a Gym!

whofarted

...what was I thinking?

This is my first week. I've been wanting to join a gym and get back in shape for about TEN YEARS now. (Yeah, I'm the King of procrastination).

So...I don't know what I'm doing and I can't afford a Personal trainer.

Any suggestions for a beginner's workout?

Any tips?

Getting set up with a work out is simple. As long as you cover the major musle groups, you'll be off to a good start.

There's tons of info on the internet.

If I were you, I'd start out by commiting a time frame 2 or 3 days a week were I would do a full body workout. If you could set up the work out time to be just after a low impact arobics class, you could take an easy arobics class then then you wouldn't have trouble focusing on the work out.

I use to work selling memberships in gyms, and I've had a little phyical trainning expreience. Please feel free to call on me to help you out.

try billy! nod he's great. shows you lots of good moves and talks you through it. says funny stuff, like "now we're gonna move into more of a dance step. we're gonna step to the right, punch, then step to the left, punch"

billy, we don't punch our dance partners....falloff

simple. watch someone who does have a personal trainer. then when they're done, repeat the routine on your own.

Cool...thanks.
I think that there's TOO much info on the internet.
The aerobics class seems daunting...I'm gonna spend a few weeks on the treadmills until I think I can keep up their pace.

I've decided I'm gonna renew when mine runs out. I wasted SO MUCH MONEY not going these last 3 years (I just started up again recently, now I'm off it for the 50th time) but it really does come in handy when I've missed the chance to go walking during the day - I can still do cardio @ night, can't beat that...
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

go up to the fan no matter who it's blowing on, and turn it off/on

change the tv station in front of the treadmills, and turn the music off.
working out is about muscles, not about fans and music.

I guess it depends...if I'm in the room with the treadmills, the average guy in there is old/overweight so I have no problem pissing them off.
But out on the main floor, where the weights are, the average guy out there could kick my ass with one hand tied behind his back, so I'll just leave their fans and music alone. Thank you.

What you truly need. You need to make a habbit. You need go there, even if you just walk around once and leave. Do that for about a week or two, and soon it will be a habbit to go there. Then you can worry about getting all big and shit.

You really need to look at your schedule and see what time you can go there regularly. Then start to go even if it just to look around. You may also be able to request a work out plan for one of the "knowledgable" staff. wink
