OMG, how about when gob went up to the dude and asked him if he was the one that plays Marta's brother? The guys says to him "como?" and GOB tells him, yeah, you're gonna be in a coma!!!

falloff falloff falloff falloff

I love the fact that he spent a whole episode trying to find a guy named hermano.

co-sign

and it's definately a show that you must watch from beginning to end, with your hand on the pause button. The jokes fly so fast and furious that you miss 3 while laughing to the first joke. And the show smartly builds on previous episodes so you need to watch them in order to appreciate all the humor. I'm about to head throught the DVDs again!

We saw varied ones on the plane. They do keep a narritive that helps if you watch out of sequence...but yes you do need to see them all to get all of the jokes past and future. We watched an episode we saw on the plane last night. Casey wanted to skip it, but I am glad we didn't as we caught on to more of what they were saying and "got it". Oh and your statement about having to back up to catch what they say is spot on. I keep asking Casy to back that up cuz we missed the joke due to laughing too much.

I think this is why the show never took off. When people would watch the show to see if it was as funny as people said, they didn't get the jokes.

I watched 6 non sequential/random episodes beofre getting into the show and thought they were brilliant and funny...hence getting the DVD's.

The show never took off because FOX never promoted it. Even after it won an EMMY for best comedy, they never touted it or took it as a sign that they had a great show. In fact, the following season was truncated to 13 episodes and then axed. WHich is wierd for a critically acclaimed show and Emmy winner.

They kept changing timeslots, too, which didn't help.

But isn't it sad that having a great show wasn't enough for them. It had to make money immediately. At least NBC stuck by the Office, a similarly smart & funny show that took a while to find an audience, just because they knew it was good.

I'm excited about getting Season 3. It's a crime that Fox aired the final FOUR episodes during the Olympic opening ceremonies...but that's how Fox treated the show from day one.

Despite it's brevity, the show wraps up nicely with a clue handed over early on in Season 2, the "Afternoon Delight" episode.

Aside from all the immediate humor (Tobias - "I'm an analyst and a therapist") what I love on re-watching these shows is how much is anticipated and referenced WAAAAAY ahead of time. Keeps me coming back.

Gothic Castle...
"I got the devil in me, girl." - 'John the Baptist', Afghan Whigs
"Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself."

NBC rolled the also brilliant "newsradio" from night to night to night untill no one knew when it was on.

Yeah. Grey's Anatomy is already a hit, but they're moving the timeslot, playing it on both the new and the old time for a while so they don't lose people.
