It's one of these clichés that is really true... Italy is a beautiful country. My favourite in Europe, of all the places I've been to.

I saw Joan Baez perform once in an amphitheater in Lucca. My second best concert ever ! And such a breathtaking place...

The region I loved the most is the 'heel', with cities like Bari, Santa Maria de Leuca... love It's been 10 years, but still one of my favourite travels.

hippy!!!! hah!

We only visited Monterosso, because of our friend who cared only about her tan... lol But I got a sneak peak at the next beach after Monterosso.. It was connected by a small tunnel, but me and my friend climbed up to the cliffs and had the most magnificent view I'd ever seen.. The entrance to the route was a bit hidden, so not that many people noticed it which was awesome, because the cliffs were'nt spoiled with graffiti, or garbige etc.. And no lines or turists getting in your way!! biggrin biggrin

We have a dream of hiking all the beaches through with my other friend.. Maybe in the spring, when it's not that hot and wet..

lol behind the tunnel is still Monterosso, the real Monterosso.....where your pic is taken is the newer, touristy part!

Too bad you missed out on Vernazze & Riomaggiore sad

I am sooooo happy you got a chance to do this. Italy is one of those countries that a person should put on those "places to see before I die" list! And you guys look so HAPPY lol- isn't funny how when you're there you're just plain old happy and easy about everything, and don't have a care in the WORLD? I'm helping some friends from Manhattan play their honeymoon there right now!

Oh that's soooo nice... A honeymoon in Italy sounds just perfect... biggrin I had s lot of stress during the holiday because of with whom I was travelling with.. My other friend was a bit stuck up and it was constant fighting with her.. She always ate pizza, didn't like wines, not experimental at ALL, only wanted a better tan and was over protective of everything.. Really a horrific person to travel with.. neutral

But we discussed it and it's ok.. All were all in all satisfied with the week.. I decided not to travel with her again, though... lol

One night I just decised not to be irritated with her anymore and enjoy my time, and then it was ok.. I let her do all the stressing and moaning and if she had a tantrum, we'd just go and have cappuccinos with my other friend.. biggrin

Yeah I figured, because it was so small it couldn't be the other beach.. biggrin But the next time I visit Italy I will hopefully hike through all of them..

There ya go, darlin'! That's the right attitude! I'll never understand, for the life of me, why people go on vacation just to stress out. The idea is to relaaaaax....go with the flow, throw all those moans and groans out the window and just chill out.

That's so cute how you settled so quickly into the Italian rythym: it's a bit like, 'oh, you're stressed? well me, I'm going to have a cappucino now and enjoy the view' lol

It is 0:46 in Amsterdam.
I worked until 23:00. Work was boring one hand (irritating customers, lots of aggresive people) and fun on the other (two fun new colleagues)

Wow.. Where do you work at?

I work in a HUGE newsstand on a train station. Never dull there. Yesterday I worked with TWO new colleagues. One of them was wearing silver ballet shoes. I loved her immediately.

I just adore the whole italian attitude: no stress and they're still so self-assertive.. The lady with whom my other friend stayed with before me and my other friend arrived always told her: "Don't wooooory... Don't woooory... In italia you do what you want, when you want. When you tired, you sleep. When hungry, you eat.." lol

I noticed a lot of dents in their cars too, so I thought that they must be parking too tight. But an italian would think that: It's not my fault that the car's dented - the road's too short.. lol

I love 'em..

We were on the train to Florence, when we noticed these guys on the benches and thought they looked ridiculous.. We took pictures of them and they thought we thought they were hot...!!! NO WAY!! Then the third guy started taking his shirt of and showing off and we just rolled on the floor laughing.... What great self-esteem.. biggrin

those are male prostitutes

that's not self esteem then, that's business flair! How funny. It's kind of like when a male tourist is hitting it off so well with a girl because he is unaware that she is WORKING.
