do you think if would be OK for a kid to watch some of the star wars movies?

my kid is 6 and he asked me today, so I told him 8, but that is in 700 sleeps

seems cruel!

Compromise. Make it 550 sleeps.

the message of star wars is good versus evil, and choices in life.

he's at the right age to see it.

I watched all kinds of crap when I was a kid and I turned out ok. I remember seeing Empire Strikes Back in the theatre, and that came out in 1980 (I think), so I was only 5 at the time.
But you know best what he can 'handle' I suppose.

My newphews were exposed to Star Wars at 4 and 5 years of age. WIthin a year, they understood and could tell me the different relationships in the Characters and who would backstab who, etc. etc.

With a few exceptions they've been tought to understand that it is all makebelieve. We showed them a Lord of the Rings documentary (the making of) after they watched "The Two Towers" and got spooked by the Orcs.

I wouldn't recommend it though. I think they behavior becomes more agressive after watching these types of movies.

I watched Star Wars when I was about 5 (1978) and I was fine. I thought it was the greatest thing I ever saw. I thought Darth Vader was waaayyyyy better than the villians I'd seen in cartoons.

Although this is coming from someone saw Salem's Lot and The Shining at a very young age and then went on to rent all the R-rated slasher movies of the 70s and 80s at age nine and ten when my parents were at work. They just let a kid come in there and rent them. Thank God for that video store.

6 is a great age ... with parental supervision and understandable talks about actors jobs and hollywood "play" and all the other little bits

I was around 4 when everyone in my family was renting Return Of The Jedi.

I found it boring.

I was 7 when I watched the "first" Star Wars movie.
At that age I was bedazzed by the lights and characters.

There's no blood in them, so fear not.

StarWars is good for almost all ages!

My 6 year old loves Star Wars, though he found Anakins transformation into Darth Vader a bit daunting!!
