A question for all you Americans...

In every show that's on tv, Americans always have their shoes on, even when they are at home. Do you really have your shoes on all the time?

I prefer not to wear shoes....although at home with a 11 yr old, and a six yr old it's dangerous....bratz dolls shoes, hairclips on the floor...it's like a minefield

It's really a personal preference, as far as I've gathered. One of my sisters doesn't wear shoes when she's at home and I can't do that - I'm really not sure why, I just can't bring myself to walk around in no shoes all the time. lol

The funny thing is that when we are outside we are always barefoot and we put our shoes on just as we come in.

We also leave a pair of shoes just outside the door for people to put on when they enter our domiciles in case they don't have any of their own.

I try to take off my shoes to keep the floor from getting too dirty. I have friend's with hard wood flooring, and they like people to remove their shoes as well. I really think it just depends on the person, or family.

Well, anything and everything. I don't recall ever seeing an American person on tv without shoes his/her shoes on

My shoes generally come off when I walk in the door of my own house, but depending on where else I may be I generally leave them on.

I must be strange. falloff Well I knew that but really...I seem to be the only one who walks around in shoes all the time. I just can't bring myself to be barefoot - and in the mornings I wear slipper socks. I've been like that since I was probably ten years old lol

So, you believe that TV is a good representation of how Americans really are and really live? eek I'm pretty sure that part of being on TV is to show off the character's wardrobe, and shoes are part of the costume of the character.

I rarely leave my shoes on when I'm inside, btw.

Not a big fan of shoes, though I'm also not a big fan of cleaning my floors, so I do often wear socks or sandals around my house to prevent grit and dog hair from sticking to my feet. Does that improve your opinion of Americans? lol

And when I go to other people's houses, I leave my shoes on unless they request that I remove them. Which I hate.

Yes, of course we do. It's part of the Department of Homeland Security disaster preparedness mandate. Just check out the old footage of Hurricane Katrina--everybody was wearing shoes.

Only time I ware foot ware is when I'm going out in public. Mostoften it's sandles. I can't wait to get home and barefoot.
