nod it sure is!

I would recommend traveling down Route 66, it's a must for traveling across the USA. nod

I've heard that too!! thanks... and what are they like inside? are they generally pretty decent inside? as much as a working coach can be that is? lol

Route 66 hmmm

They're okay, I guess. the seats are pretty comfortable and sometimes they have a movie for you to watch. for some reason, the greyhound that goes from NYC to New Bedford always shows 'Spanglish' shrug

I hate the bathrooms.

I tend to get motion sick on the bus and like the train much better.

Honey, you might want to read this. It's a little outdated but there's a link to get new prices and so forth.

Edited the link. It doesn't work. I'll check some other stuff for you.

i was checking that too.

here's the prices for the passes. depends on when you want to travel

http://tickets.amtrak.com...selectpass

for example unlimited 30-day travel between Sept 5, '06 and Dec 14, '06 is $395 USD. that's less than 200GBP. and that's for national travel, not just one area.

hug i see you beat me to it.

one thing to remember is the train doesn't go EVERYWHERE..... but still, check into it. maybe with a combo of train and bus you can get everywhere you want to go.

great deal for international travellers for sure thumbs up!

The American public transit system countrywide is not quite the same as some other countries.. there are indeed weirdos, but don't let that put you off... like most things, especially in America, you get what you pay for!

Have funn, nat... and anyone else priveleged enough to be part of this expedition!

woot!

wish i could go!

pout

if you do the bus, be careful, stay aware of your surroundings, and don't let go of your bag.

hug

What Fantasyislander say is "Fact"!
I'll say it again "Don't let go of your bags" wink

smile Enjoy your wonderful trip Natisse. smile
God doesn't just tells me how much he "LOVE's" me, God shows me how much he "LOVE's" me. Both telling and showing "LOVE" means to "LOVE". They go hand in hand. You can't have one with out the other. Something is spoken, then followed by an action. That is

thank you again guys grouphug

I have another question, though. regarding train Vs Bus... in which mode of transport would I see more? I mean see more towns, more of everything. Trains are great, but sometimes it seems you don't catch quite as much because you rush by so quickly

I'm interested in the experience nod

knowing that, would people still recommend the train?

on the train you get to see parts of the US that you don't see by road. the train from chicago to NY was really a beautiful ride..... depending on the route it goes you'll see mountain passes, rivers, beautiful countryside. only thing is, unless you have a scheduled stop you may only stop for a few minutes in most towns. however, if you have unlimited rail pass maybe you could stop in whichever towns you want then catch the next train on to the next.

i'd say no...the bus by nature stops at smaller towns that trains zip by. you might stop in the town where they serve fried pigs brains
