My dryer is broken

I swear to god, doesn't it always seem like once you seem to get ahead just a bit, that life kicks you right back down?

I hope this fucking thing can be fixed, cause I REALLY don't want to shell out new dryer kind of money. sad

At least it wasn't the washer. Better to have wet clean clothes than dry dirty ones. nod

What the hell is wrong with it? Mine broke awhile ago too...it wouldn't get
hot. There was a fuse that needed replacing.

Actually, the same one is broken right now too...dammit...but it's just the
timer. The damn thing won't shut off. I can't leave the house with it running or else it may overheat!
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

That sounds like a broken belt...they are fairly cheap, but finding someone to put it in will be the trick.

Repairmen....$$$$$

When my belt broke, I was able to find a friend of my mother's to help me out with the thing.

Well, hopefully you'll have dry clothes tomorrow...nothing worse than that
musty moldy smell on your clothes. mad

BTW...our electric/gas co here in Michigan offers this program that runs you $20 a month. It covers all of your main appliances...refrig, stove, washer, dryer, hot water heater, furnace, etc...if they break down, they will fix or replace them at no cost. Next day service too....why don't I have this? eek

It sux when the dryer breaks down. That has happened to me twice within the past 5 or 6 weeks. I've had to call a repairman twice for the same issue; hopefully now the problem has been rectified. I hope you get your dryer problems solved quickly.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

You can pick up a new dryer for pretty cheap... Well, maybe not new, but there shouldn't be much of a reason for you shell out more than $60 for a used one. Quit snivelling, Chrispy. At least you have a dryer. And a washer. You're way ahead of some of us. razz

That's what I was going to say, but it depends on weather conditions outside. Right now we're having monsoon season.

Does everyone in America use a drier? We hang clothes out on a washing line over here (or, if it's raining I hang them on a rack indoors) - I think I've used the drier part of my washer/drier about three times in five years neutral

Probably b/c it's faster & there's less chance of your clothes being stolen neutral

Wasn't there a change machine? Or an attendant with quarters? Laundry mats must be different where you are....

I think most people do use dryers these days. Some towns have ordinances that prohibit hanging your laundry out to dry.
Personally, I'd like to dry my sheets outside but there's no where to hang them here. sad
