what became a part of your life as a child that helped you escape...

mine wasnt cartoons or anything else...

it was Music, as a child i would listen to music constantly and it would take me places, and make me happy regardless of the harsh relaity of my surroundings as a small child, it helped me go away from everything and take me to a place that i created in my own mind and that place becomes so real to you, that you can actually see it and touch it.

books. i could read a book and be totally engrossed in it, and lose myself to the rest of the world. my mom would sometimes have to actually shake me to get my attention.

and a tree in our back yard. i would climb that to get away. my mom didn't climb trees and my sister was afraid of heights at first, so the top of my tree was my special place. i have many fond memories of sitting up there just watching the horizon of the rest of the town. cloud9 the new owners cut my tree down. cry i actually cried when i first found that out.

Wow, I have to add these to my list as well. Also the dreams and drawing too.

I always had my nose in a book and I just about lived in the maple tree in our front yard. nod All the neighborhood kids would come over and climb it too. It's still there, but I have cried over other trees I've known that have been cut down. sad

Books! I have been reading non-stop since I was about 6. Books are a way for me to escape life and stress for a while each day. I also love learning about other cultures, not to mentioned factual events, historical events etc.

I didn't make friends easily and got a bit of stick in school because I had a big head of blonde hair, wore glasses and was a bit of a smartarse. I just shyed away from all social circles from the ages of 12 and 16, sitting in my bedroom shooting out short stories on my grandpa's old typewriter and running downstairs to show my mum and dad when I finished yet another tale of lower dimentional beings vomiting spacetime or vampire Nazis. They were worried, but my English teachers kept telling them at Parents Nights to encourage me, and they did. I love my parents, they're the coolest people I've ever met. If I had a son like me I'd be throwing him outside and locking the bloody door. I just couldn;t wait to get home from school to get back to deciding the fates of the people on my pages. smile

2 things

1) Art. I was always one of the top artist in my class and often would win awards at our yearly art shows at school. I had a bad relationship with my father, but one of the things that we had in common was that we both could draw well. He tought me 3-dimensional linear perspective drawing when I was between 6 and 7. lol I someone understood what he was getting at.

2) Music. Purple Rain was released during a period in mylife when I was undergoing puberty. At that age, naturally all I thought about was sex. Prince provided me with terrific music, explicit lyrics that ignited my curiosity, and imagry and vision unsurpassed by any other musical act that I was aware of at the time. The alienation and sadness of When Doves Cry, the frustration and anger of Darlin Nikki, the sheer emotional depth of Purple Rain--all of these were at one time something I deeply related to. I kid Prince all the time at this site, becuase he's a wack crazy bitch--but in reality, he gave me much to be thankful for. I guess I'm more of a fan than I sometimes think I am. shrug

That's pretty much what my parents did. lol We weren't allowed to watch much TV at all, and I didn't really even want to.

Or did you mean you'd throw yourself out because you were so odd? hmm lol

And as for you being a smartarse, well..... I can't help you there. razz

Music ... I'd listen to music so much that I now have hearing loss from blaring my headphones for years on end, those things were always on my head...me and my bright yellow walkman were one being.

And Books....my true love...I'd read anything and love it... the thing that sucks so much about getting older is now i don't have the attention span I once did and I find it really hard to clear my mind and sit down and read. sad

Movies....oh God....If books are my first love then movies are my all time greatest fuck. I don't care what crap it is I'll watch it... drool

Unfortunately Photoshop is something that is little more than a tool of amusement for me.
The vast majority of my photoshops are for jokes and stuff. This is becuase I find visual jokes as funny as auditory ones. I also am extremely hit-or-miss in humor, and for some reason, I'm more comfortable being hit-or-miss visually. shrug

I havent' painted anything in well over a year, and I haven't finished that painting. shrug
