There are, like, three targets here in albuquerque where my mom lives. eek THREE! It can be nice at times. There's the good target, the crappy target, and the pkay target. nod giggle

Ther are a million targets all over the twin cities. Sometimes I'll go to more than one in a day. redface

I think once my mom and I went to all three in one day. redface I've been raised on discount clothes my whole life. I feel like even if i did make it rich, i'd still be at target, marshalls, TJ Max, Payless, DSW, etc. And let's not forget Goodwill! Their perfect for belts and cool earrings. giggle

There are two within 1/2 mile of each other on the same street in San Leandro (near Oakland) where I used to live

And they were on sale!!!...lol lol

I get a text message the other day from my daughter:

Her: Will u give me $174 for jeans?
Me: How many pairs of jeans are you buying?
Her: One

I called her after that...lol... eek

As I'm laughing and saying "That is insane!" over and over to her, she says "And they're on sale, dad"...I ask her how much they USUALLY cost...she says "About $270"...wtf?!?! I said that her first name would have to be "Christina" and her last name "Aguilera" in order for her to be wearing $174 jeans...she laughed...lol...I asked her to describe them to me, to tell me what makes them worth so much in her eyes, what she likes about them...said something about different color stitching in the pockets and a "U" on the pockets...I dunno...I just kept freaking out...lol

I'm taking her shopping later this week...ain't buyin' her no damn $200 pair of jeans, though... disbelief

Have you ever bought your kids something that was ridiculously overpriced but thought "eh, what the hell" anyway? (other than for their birthday or Xmas)...

Ahh you can buy her a pair of "7 for all mankind" jeans for about 150.00 wink

I love 7 jeans come on dad...spoil her rotten she deserves it. wink

isn't it about teaching kids a lesson in values?

that $174 can feed Sally Struthers for a day

That looks like a Kate Spade handbag love it

That is nuts!

She could buy at least 2 blouses, and a pair of jeans with $174.00.

Nevertheless, it is awfully cute!

It's the "back to school" shopping... nod...and apparently two of her friends already own these jeans, and bought them at regular price...lol eek

The good thing is, though, that she seems to already acknowledge how ridiculous a price they are...there are no tantrums, moodiness or "You never get me anything!" rants...lol...she's an extremely levelheaded kid. But it still doesn't keep her from wanting to have a pair like her friends do.

now u figured it out...that dreaded peer pressure crap fucks up the levelest of minds

She actually understands the value of money rather well...is pretty responsible in that regard. For her mother's birthday, she took on some more babysitting jobs because she didn't want to receive money from her mother or me to go buy the gift. And if it weren't for the fact that she wants the jeans by the start of the school year--which is in a few weeks--having her save up the money would probably go over well...but she'd never be able to earn that much that quickly.

She better not ask my sister (her godmother) for the money, though, cuz my sister WILL buy them for her...lol lol

She sounds like a really cool kid. You should bring her to an invasion. biggrin wink

Here are the $200 jeans, or at least the makers of the jeans, not sure which style she was actually wanting...called True Religion jeans:

I think the above jeans are the ones she's wanting, from how she described them...

Maybe, maybe not. It's all about trying them on and seeing. If she's got good judgement about those things, then yeah. If she hasn't even tried them on and just wants them cause her friends have some, then that's another story. In my mind, if they're even half an inch too long, they're not worth the money you're spending on them. They gotta be perfect. But they are damn cute. And if they ARE perfect on her, well, that's a tough one. lol

I think the line of the inseam looks like they got fuckered up in the dryer (or as you know I like to call it, the "dryer/dewrinkler"). whofarted

The design is nice, though.

I think it's funny how people are talking about Target like it's this cheapo place. Shit, I thought Target was luxury growing up. The idea that people could get whole wardrobes from Target, or Mervyns. . . MERVYNS love . . . I couldn't fathom it. Mostly it was Goodwill, and I was lucky if my mom put shit on layaway at K-Mart for me (hoping I'd forget about the stuff, which I didn't). lol

And look at me, I turned out ok. eek boxed

i know...they're pants, something that covers up yer legs and butt. why do they need to cost THAT much?!

for that much money i'd expect them mofos to wash themselves and not having to iron 'em. disbelief

I get what both of ya are saying. But I'm sure there are some things you value enough to spend that much money on. Everyone's got their thing. I adore clothes. Fashion is an artform. Even when it's stuff you wear every day. I love finding beauty in everyday things. We all gotta wear clothes. It makes me happy to look cute everyday. Some people find clothes to be simply utilitarian. Cover your body and keep you warm. And that's fine too. I think most folks are somewhere in bewteen. shrug
I DON'T pay that much money for clothes cause I can't afford to. lol. But if I could, hell yeah, I would.
That's all.

You're right: clothes ain't my thing and I probably would spend 200 bucks on something I deemed worthy.

all I know is, my daughter is 11 and over the summer, she gained a whole size and I'll be damned if I gonna spend 200 dollars on some pants that I have to give to give to goodwill because she can't fit them in six months.
