I will watch this hopefully because I don't have HBO like some folks but I'm sure it will surface on DVD somewhere, I think this documentary IS a must see so people can open their eyes. But they've done it before though...I think that's the point some are missing. The gov't has blown them up before..... And Luxury...the French Quarter is open for business and yet...the 9th ward is still under concrete. I don't know if they did it or not. I just don't put anything past the gov't on any level. From what I did understand about Katrina in NOLA...the levees "bursting" did more damage than the hurricane someone told me. Dont know. Regardless...the levees didn't hold in the 9th ward...so there was neglect. Oh yeah Rhonda that's a fact, it wasn't so much the wind and stuff flying, it was the rushing water when the levees broke, the water just swept stuff away and trapped people, like a flash flood. *********************************************

Nothing could navigate out there during that size of a hurricane to be able to blow up levees. ." alwayslate said: You must not have watched that shit. Because the HURRICANE did not fuck up the levees (piece of shit that they were) and the storm surge the morning after was at Category ONE.
When, the GOV-ERN-MENT fucking exploded them shits TWICE before!? 1965 and 1927. they also blew them up in 1923. I am not saying they did it this time, but they did do it a number of times before. Right, so if there is documentation of them being blown up before, then why isn't there documentation of them being blown up for Katrina? See how it doesn't add up? ~This brown experience made me the man that I was meant to be~

The French Quarter is the main source of revenue for the city so I'm not surprised they made sure to open that section back up. And yes, the levees breaking did do more damage than the actual hurricane. The main blame can be on the engineers that were TOLD a few years back that the levees were old and could be broken given the right circumstances. ~This brown experience made me the man that I was meant to be~

But what is interesting is all the immediate response that happened after the documentary aired. Govt. is a bit unnerved. Truth hurts.

From what I did understand about Katrina in NOLA...the levees "bursting" did more damage than the hurricane someone told me. Dont know. Regardless...the levees didn't hold in the 9th ward...so there was neglect. what it all boils down to is the basic mistrust of the US government that black people have. Because this was done in the past, it is felt that it could happen again. Proof or no proof. There was documentation of the Tuskee experiment but it wasn't widely known nationally that it was going on, although the people down there knew something wasn't right they knew something was going on. Same thing same feeling. If the fears had been proven wrong in the past I bet the "conspiracy theorists" would have been drowned out by now, but because the US government committed such acts against poor people, black people, native american people, there are those who believe that The government will do anything, no matter how atrocious to people for whatever reason is determined fit. Those fears combined with the neglect that happened to the people for days and days all add up to just more fear and mistrust. As for the "category one" quote from earlier that was from one of the people in the film, the point is, the levee's failed not because of the storm but because of the water's reaction to the events during the storm- surge, blown or whatever you want to call it. semantics--the levee's failed and New Orleans will never be the same again. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

While listening to Gene Burns last night, a caller from the 9th Ward related an insane catch-22 he was in.
It seems that a year after this disaster, he cannot qualify for a FEMA trailor because his property still has no electrical power. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."
