I Had a TV Dinner Tonight...

...And it was so freaking stupid.

It was Salisbury steak and it had these side dishes in the other compartments... mashed potatoes and green beans. Plus it had a brownie for dessert, which seemed novel to me.

Sounds good, no?

But when I went to microwave it I learned that you have to slit the plastic over the side dishes, then cook it for like 2 minutes then take it out and use a fork to remove the brownie; then put the rest back in (after replacing the slit plastic cover) for another 4 1/2 minutes.

I was like, what the fuck?? Is this a TV dinner or Hell's Kitchen??

If I wanted to cook my own damn meal I would'nt have bought a Television dinner!!

pissed

Plus the brownie just kind of liquified and I had to throw it out...

sigh

My dad still says tv dinner giggle Some are pretty good though.....like those Marie Callender and Boston Market ones. They're a lot better if you put them in the oven rather than microwaving them. I get Stouffer's harvest apples to accompany the rest of my dinner a lot of times. My mama used to order stuff from Schwan's foods.....my god that stuff was good.....higher quality than grocery frozen foods. I haven't had that in years pout

Ack!

They put gasoline in those things to preseve them! Ugh!

Though, my friend swears that her frozen dinners say, "No Preservatives" on it, so maybe they've stopped.

Why?

(Though, back in the 70's, my fav was the salisbury steak with the mashed potatoes... very similar, if not exact, of the one pictured! I think mine had the candied apple crap in it though!)
