Did you ever used to have pen-friends?

I mean back in the olden days when you wrote a letter and posted it.

We had them through school in grade 4 - I had a Tasmanian kid called Dennis Cahill who rode a little motorbike. I was less than impressed, told him my interests were eating and sleeping and deliberately let things fizzle out after 2 letters.

I also had another one when I was in my teens, a german girl who's grandma was friends with my grandma. But then she came to Australia to visit, and after writing to each other for years, I realised I couldn't stand her - she was really bossy and rude to my flatmate disbelief

the org is like having pen-friends all over again!

I loved having pen pals...

You are right.. this is just instant pen pals- we do not have to wait for the letter to be delivered. I still enjoy sending ppl letters and cards through the mail- it is a little more personal I guess.

I DO have a pen-pal, a friend from back in my school days. Once Year 12 was over, I moved to the city and we've kept in touch via pen and paper. There's something a little more classy about letters in comparison to emails, even if they are way slower.

I used to have five regular pen-pals, one of which was a fellow Prince fan. Two of them fizzled out, but the other three, including the Prince fan, are my friends to this day. Now we live in the same city, so we don't write letters anymore. We call or email. biggrin

I kinda miss getting letters, though. confused

There is this book called Flat Stanley that lots of schools use now to encourage pen pals... even with the internet it's still nice to recieve an honest to God letter sometimes. biggrin

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I had a friend who was incarcerated for a few years.

He said that in the pen,
pals are always 'writing' each other.

Whatever that means.

Back in the day Dyslexics didn't make for good Pen-Pals
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
