try reading OSCAR AND LUCINDA by australias very own peter carey-or the true history of the kelly gang-both brilliant books and im sure the former won the booker prize.

or for a quirky read-THE LIFE OF PI by jann martel

EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED by jonathan foer

these books arent that saucy but you could always read them with your tight top on!

I have 3 I can recommend

1. Honeymoon With My Brother (this is a true story) Franz Wisner

2. A Heartbreaking work Of Staggering Genius (also a true and great story) Dave Eggers

3. Like Water for Chocolate (great book, woman lead, a bit saucy, a bit romantic, a bit adventurous with good recipes) Laura Esquirel
Carpenters bend wood, fletchers bend arrows, wise men fashion themselves.

as has been stated, "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Dumas.

These gems from John Irving: "A Prayer for Owen Meany," "The Hotel New Hampshire," "The World According to Garp," "Widow for One Year" or "Until I Find You."

These gems from Elinor Lipman: "The Inn at Lake Devine," "The Way Men Act," "Isabel's Bed," "The Pursuit of Alice Thrift."

And, Sabine Durrant's "Having It and Eating It" is an enjoyable read, too. (It even has a young mother and an Australian...)

The first book was like therapy for me, the guy went through the same thing I did, except got left at the altar the weekend of his wedding and he and his brother decided to sell everything they owned, quit their jobs, and travel the entire world for a year. It was awesome!
