American football not soccer

so the HS football head coach calls me today

they want my son ...who is a soccer player to be their kicker on the football team

cuz he can put 6 shots in a row ( kicks ) from 55 yrds out straight through the uprights ...

so...is a 55yr "field goal" ok for a 17 yr old boy that never plyed football ???

WTF ? i dont understand why they want to get him on the team so bad ...

explian please

Say what? 55yds is great! Let him give it a go and see how he likes it. Sorry to hear about Jess. I pray that all will be well.

I say you should strongly encourage him to at least try it. This may be a very good opportuinity for him.

i'm gonnalet him tonight to see... the coach swore he wouldnt get tackled or hurt ... does that sound right to you ?

he is a excellent soccer player and has schools looking at him for that already

hmmm

The only way he would get tackled or hurt would be if the line miffed on protection and if he is the last tackler on the kickoff team and has to make a game saving tackle. Most kickers can't tackle worth the shit and have piss poor tackling technique and thats when they get hurt. But he is 98% surely unlikely to get hurt.

special teams players, especially place kickers, are almost never taken in the first round of nfl drafts (sebastian janakowski of the raiders was the last one, i believe)...BUT place kickers play forever, as long as they keep up their accuracy and range. i think morten andersen once kicked a field goal over the workers building the great pyramids lol

mach..its incredibly awesome. Kickers usually don't get hit, and have the longest careers, if they stretch and take care of their legs. It would be a good opportunity for him...kickers get scholarships you know...kids his age usually cant kick the ball that distance, let alone with accuracy. Most pro kickers can't kick 55 yds 6 times in a row. Ask Karmatornado, he'd be the best to explain

they announced him at the beginning of the game as the starting kicker

"senior Josh Treadway " he was on the field... there was a moment delay cuz the refs we dicking with some chain thing then the coach ran out a different player and he took the game starting kick instead eek

so JT asked the coach the next day WTF coach ? and coach said he was afraid that JT would freeze up under the pressure ( okay so that coach doesnt know JT well i can understand ) but then they never put him in all game... i thought that sucked for JT...but he is going to try one more time/ game this friday ...he has been kicking about 10 kicks from the 45 each day straight through the uprights with the coach watching him ... so maybe he'll get to this friday
