Hawk Medicine this morning as i was comming up our driveway ( very steep and sorta long )
a young hawk flew out from a tree in front of me and then landed on the side of the drive ... so i stopped and admired him until he moved... he flew up onto a fence post so i drove up some more...stopped and watched him some more until he flew away into a nearby tree they are such powerful creatures, even the young ones with a touch of downy feather still sticking out of their new adult feathers ... now most know that i respect / study animal medicine ... it is part of my shamanic training here is what is said about hawk medicine ... he looked much like this hawk Hawk is the Totem of the Fire clan. Hawk awakens us to true awareness. Hawk brings us messages from our unconscious mind. Hawk tells us to light the fires of our Spirit. thanx for stopping by my thread

i watched a family of raccoons in central park for about 20 minutes the other night. they got really close to me. coulda reached out and touched one of em, he or she was so close that's cool The word "raccoon" comes from the Algonquin word "arckunem", which means "hand scratcher", and has to do with their very strong and dexterous paws. Dexterity and Disguise The magic of the Raccoon is in its mask. Masks are a powerful magical tool: you can achieve altered states through the use of mask, you can become someone or something else behind a mask. A Raccoon totem can teach you how to wear masks for many reasons as the need arises. It can teach you how to mask, disguise and transform yourself. Don't you act differently with your boss, parents, children, husband, friend, strangers. Those are all masks you put on. Masks are one of the tools of transformation. It helps us to change what we are into what we want to be. Raccoons also teach you how to put asleep the part of you that is not needed and awaken the aspect of yourself that is. If you are a Raccoon person, eating mostly fruit and vegetables will be beneficial to your health. A Raccoon totem has a long influence on your life. It is not a short-time totem, but rather will stay with you for a long time

Beautiful!! We have an angry old crow who comes into our backyard when he/she smells our barbecue. We've got a little makeshift birdbath/feeder and the bird lets us get near it and even touch it sometimes. It'll just sit there and watch us. When we're inside, we always know when it's out there because it'll SQUAAK until we put food out there for it.
I have pictures on my phone! I'll have to upload them. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I have pictures on my phone! I'll have to upload them. Crows are sooooo smart. They even use tools! They are! My dad's so cute. He's a truck driver and starts his shift early in his terminal to organize freight before it's loaded; for years now, he has this crow HANGING OUT with him at work in the morning, before anyone gets there, and it even rides on the top of his loud, rickety forklift! He feeds it as well...they go through a loaf of bread in just one morning. It's like they're friends or something. My dad's learned all he can about crows and talks to me about the little guy/gal every time he gets a chance. I bet he's secretly named it. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I have pictures on my phone! I'll have to upload them. Crows are the keepers of the Sacred Law and to have a Crow totem is very powerful. Personal Integrity are your watchwords and your guide in Life. If you have a Crow totem, your prime path is to be mindful of your opinions and actions. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak your truth and to know your life's mission. Crow is a omen of Change. Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time, therefore, it sees past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and dark, both inner and outer. It is the totem of the Great Spirit and must be respected as such. They are symbols of creation and spiritual strength. Look for opportunities to create and manifest the magic of life. Crows are messengers calling to us about the creation and magic that is alive in the world today and available to us. . [Edited 8/18/06 7:43am]

Samaar said: The Bald Eagles on the other hand always seem drawn to me, or me to them. I see a baldie almost every day. The eagle is symbol of the zenith. A great reminder of your own ability to soar to great heights. Eagles are messengers from heaven and are the embodiment of the spirit of the sun. Those with an Eagle totem need to have an involvement with creation; a willingness to experience extremes; a willingness to use your ability even if it means getting "scorched" a little as you fly high; a willingness to seek out your true emotions. A demanding totem, but one that offers so much reward at the end of the journey. Its four-toed feet remind you to stay grounded even went soaring high; Its talons remind you to grasp the things of the earth; Its sharp beak shows you when to speak, how much, and how strongly. This totem will show you opportunities and how to ride the winds to your benefit. Eagle people can live in the realm of the spirit yet still remain connected and balanced within the realm of the Earth. You must become much more than you ever dreamed possible.

There was a little sparrow that kept trying to build a nest in one of the awnings of our house and there wasn't enough room so the materials kept falling out...so my dad built a little shelf in there and the little sparrow built its nest and had babies there for several years and this was the awning of one of the doors to the house!

WOW! What a guy! That is the most adorable thing ever. It's so awesome to have a dad like that. I'll never take it for granted. Some of my favorite cheesiest random memories are the ones growing up, when my dad and I would gently pluck the snails from our street in the evening and place them further along in the direction they were heading so they didn't get crushed by the morning traffic. He'd always use that time to give me a pep talk about something. It was quite nerdy, but oh well. Ugh. Oh shit, my hat done fell off
