hmmm

I'm tryina think if I've heard an orger sing OTHER than drunken sing-a-longs which don't really indicate someone's true talents...

I heard a former orger sing. Rio did Purple Rain at a Karoake Cowboy bar in Dallas and it totally made me cry. sigh I miss Rio.

Really?! biggrin That is great! I want to take singing lessons. I'm no Streisand but I can carry a tune pretty decently. This is my goal for 2007 nod

Not having met any orgers I've never heard any sing live, but those in the musicians forum whose work I've heard can all sing excellently.

I can sing, but generally off-key and with hopeless timing. In the words of the irrepressible John Lydon - "My voice is an instrument of torture".
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Anyone! I've heard people learn how to carry a tune over time just by singing every day.

I believe anyone can learn to do anything that anyone else can do if they have the desire (as long as it's not physically extreme, like slam dunking).

Well I sing mellow-depressing or angry british rock, but I want to make sure I actually know which notes to hit rather than playing roughly by ear. It'll also give me more control over my voice so I make less errors and hopefully won't have to re-record vocals so much anymore biggrin

batting eyes Me.

What's funny is that last night I had a dream (nightmare, really) that this awful videotaped performance of me was being broadcast live on TV. The tape from about 10 years ago, before I really found my voice and learned how to sing correctly, and I was singing a song that I hadn't even really practiced. Think Lauryn Hill and that old "Showtime At The Apollo" clip. disbelief Anyway, thank God for all those horrible taped performances and horrible demo recordings. They don't lie--when you suck you just suck.

When I hit it big that same video tape will be all over the internet. falloff

I was told by one engineer that I reminded him of Terrence Trent D'arby. confuse I thought he had lost his damned mind.

My sister picks up on the MJ/Prince thing, which is obvious since I know and sing all of their songs.

And, while playing "Do What You Do" by Jermaine Jackson 4 different people on four different occassions thought it was me. lol

That's cool! I used to take voice lessons, but stopped. I need to get back into it, I miss it. I need to take piano lessons too, while I'm at it. I see people singing on TV, and think to myself, "That looks like a lot of fun!" I know it's not easy, it takes a lot of practice to get the band and singers to all be in tune with each other.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
