Transformers thread

My love of the transformers comes from mostly the movie (1986) and the original series. But since then there's been soooo many different shows (beast wars, armada)... Plus I've never read the comics.

The continuity seems to be a mess... Is there an "official" continuity? What do you guys think of the transformers mythology?

I'm a fan of the original series from the 80's. I grew up on that. and the movie completely rocked my world.

Ignore Armada and Beastwars. The original series to consider is from 1984-1987. I own almost everything from the first generation( videos/toys). The movie was a let down of sorts and I think Optimus Prime's death was a mistake. The folks at Marvel/Hasbro tried to over-correct on the cartoon to compensate for this error and from that, we ended up with the convoluted mess.

The movie should be OK with Spielberg as executive producer, but Michael Bay? I gotta think on that one.

Unicron was a good add. Everything that happened the year after was ok (Ultra Magnus, Roddimus, Galvatron), but the introduction of the Targetmasters and Headmasters was utter shit.
