Okay, here's the story. My order came in pieces. last Thusrday, Friday and This Monday. I went about putting the drum set together. It's a puzzle, and being that I knew nothing about drums before I wanted to do it right.

However upon trying to put the tom drums together I realized I was missing parts. I was missing the bolt thingys that hold the retaining thingys down so that the skins can be tight. I had to call the place and they have sent the parts out, and I am waiting now for them.

However I've got the bass/base drum, snare drum, high hat, ride and crash cymbols all set up. I play these. Infact I've the snare and high hate right here so all I have to do is spin around in my chair and play every chance I get.

I've not yet a place to put them in my house, for a set up. I think they will be going downstairs in the front room when the drum set is completly together.

I live in a house. My neighbors homes are ten feet off from my house, and my home has upgraded insolatation. I'm not expecting any trouble there.

The drums are not even as loud as I expected the drums to be. Though when I get going I do feel a little pressure on my ears.

The videos I got were not as helpful as I thought they might be. Though I like the drums alot. It's all about counting. I think of it as dancing to the beat, but the steps I take makes the beat up.

So far so good, but I can't wait to have the drum set fully set up.

I've two ways of playing the drums at this time. Sometimes I play like a madman. It sounds good enough and is fun, but my timing can be off in some places and I get tripped up. I also play very slowly, counting and what not.

I'm pleased to find I enjoy playing the drums far more then i enjoy playing guitar.

It's alot easier to go slow on the drums then it was for me to go slow with the guitar.

the most favorte part for me right now would have to be the high hat cymbol.

It can be played with a stick or with the foot and with a combanation of the two hand foot. It would seem you can get the largest variety of sounds from the high hat and I've been exploring that.

Strangely I've little trouble playing the high-hat even with the foot/hand combo. my biggest trouble is incoperating the bass drum.

What I really need be doing is cleaning out the front room downstairs, that somehow ended up a catch all room, so that I can put the drum set there. It's the best place in the house to put it.

My dog, a old dog, doesn't much care for the sound of the drums. lol so I've got to make sure not to interfear with his resting habbits too.

cool

Try a 4/4 beat ; walk right left right

Hit the cymbal with your right hand ; hit 2 notes on every count
And snare drum pounds on the 2 and 4 smile
(or the other way around if you're left handed)
And then start to vary and try different things with the bassdrum
You can also close the hi hat and play it instead of the cymbal and you might wanna opeen it once in a while smile

It's so flippin addictive. biggrin
Once you have them set up, it's hard to not play them. nod If you have enough rhythm to dance well, you won't have too many problems playing. Whenever I'm learning something like this, I tend to figure it out in my dreams, then I come back and try it the next day.
