Hey, fellow comic book readers

What do you all think of the latest developments at Marvel?

1) Spider-Man's secret identity revealed to the public

2) The third Summers brother

3) Storm marrying the Black Panther

...and so on. Good or bad?

Do you think the White Queen has turned bad and joined the Hellfire Club again for real in Astonishing X-Men, or will she come through as the saviour of her fellow X-Men at the end? confused

Best storyline of the year - PLANET HULK! The Silver Savage story was awesome! When the Green Scar gets back to Earth, there'll be hell to pay.

1. I don't mind. It's good to shake things up like this every once in awhile.
2. Shoulda been Gambit.
3. Makes sense. I actually just read the wedding issue last night.

2. I agree. But I think the original intention for him was always to have him be a clone made by Mr. Sinister, as Chris Claremont revealed him to be in X-Men: The End. confused

3. I just bought the issue today. Haven't read it yet. smile

1. Desperate from a sales gimmick POV, but interesting from a storytelling POV

2. I haven't been following the X-Men in a long time, so I don't know about this.

3. Whatever gets her in at least ONE comic book every month faithfully is okay by me. I don't think her character has been done justice yet, and Marvel desperately needs a strong female character like DC's Wonder Woman. I can see Storm coming close to filling that role if they'd just exploit the character the way they have with Wolverine for the past 20 years.

It seems to me that Marvel wants to make Ms Marvel their Wonder Woman. She just got her own book again and she will also be a regular in Avengers.

didn't they try that in the '70s too, back when they gave her that toni tennile hairdo?

But her name is Ms MARVEL. How much more Marvel mascot can you get?

She still has a better chance than She-Hulk.

yet i think she-hulk is a more popular character.

remember ms. marvel's poorly named predecessor, captain marvel? i think he was supposed to be a flagship character for marvel in the '70s, and that didn't work out so well either.

they should bring back dazzler, complete with KISS makeup and disco costume. then they'd have something.

I think She-Hulk is very popular among comic readers, but people who don't read comics just laugh at the name.

I think the Capt. Marvel thing flopped because the Fawcett Shazam guy in the 40s was too popular and still in people's heads.

I haven't read the stuff... But I'm really disappointed that Spidey is leading the camp FOR the new law...

I used to really like Spidey... But now he's just too PC for me... I remember an old line he said... "My sense of morality is right below my sense of the law" ie: the law comes first, then his conscience... i don't like it.

That's what I'm saying...one of the worst ideas since the Spider-Clone Saga. The suits at Marvel should go back and re-read those classic 70's Black Panther stories.

This review says it all:

I read neither She-Hulk or Ms. Marvel, but I agree with Anx that Storm could be an icon in the vein of DC's Wonder Woman provided something interesting is done with her. I'm not sure a wedding with the Black Panther is it, although it does give Storm a royal aspect. But on the other hand, Storm sort of had that already - at least when Claremont wrote her. biggrin

if they found some tongue-in-cheek way to resurrect the OLD ms. marvel look (including that delightfully retro cover logo), i bet they could do a re-vamp that would make marvel a few extra pounds of moolah. of course, they tried a mock-ironic superhero comic with x-statix (featuring mike allred (sp?), who i really like), and that was kind of a flop, arguably. still, the old skool ms. marvel pushes MAJOR nostalgia buttons for me. i'd love to see them play with that.

Besides the wedding issue, I don't read the Black Panther. So with Storm not being in the X-Men now, I guess I won't be seeing much of her in the future. sad

Didn't Alex Ross predict the wedding several years ago in his 'Earth X' series?
