SOUP.....MAINCOURSE OR NOT?

I had Pumpkin Soup last night. neutral

Now.....I don't actually hate soup, but I don't think it's a meal on it's own for dinner. When you go to a resturant, soup isn't in the main coarse section to choose from. It's something to get the meal started! Not a friggin meal onto itself!!!!! mad
I had to make myself a sandwich afterwards because I was still hungry. hmm

Ok!!! You might think I'm a little crazy starting a thread about this and going on about soup.....but I can't be the only one in the world who thinks like this? pray

STEW is a main course. CHILI is a main course. but soup? as in, like, few or no things floating around in it? oh no. even in diners it's served with the side salad before the meal. so no. not a main course, unless maybe it's lunch and you're dieting or something.

I eat just soup all the time.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Soup is not really a meal.

Chicken Gumbo, or Matzah Ball, or Mushroom Barley. I could agree with those being a meal. Those are very hardy soups.

Crackers in a bowl. That - that could be a meal.
