i'm reading this novel right now and it's CRACKING ME UP. the story is fun, it's written in a way that's very playful and enjoyable, and i swear, there's something on EVERY page that makes me laugh out loud. it's almost too much. but i'm enjoying this book more than anything i've read so far this year, so there's that.

I just read T.C Boyle's "Friend of the Earth"--It's about an eco-terrorist and his family. It's really funny and well written, and it's about a serious (and kind of scary) subject.

My favorite books of the last couple of years have been Philip Pullmans "His Dark Materials" books--1. The Golden Compass, 2. The Subtle Knife, and 3. The Amber Spyglass.

They're technically kids' fantasy books, but I think you'd have to be a really smart kid to read them. Before you say "I hate science fiction" they're very deep & well written, they're emotional, have great characters (the hero is a little girl), and they are basically all about sex in the end. I gave them to my sister, and she read them in about a week (about 1200 pages in all!)

Everything Orson Scott has written is at least good. These books are excellent.
My favorite author. I had the pleasure of seeing him do a lecture and speaking to him--it was totally rad.

Oh, how excellent for some dorky guy! razz These are technically fantasy, but they're the best books I've read in a long time.

Get "The Golden Compass" by Phillip Pullman and some porn of your choice!

Ender's Game is good science fiction, but no, not saucy.
