Can't remember if i saw this in a cinema-theatre but it struck me .
There's a dramatic scene of how Jodie's chararacter loses her dad in her childhood . He's having an attack or something and she's trying to rescue him rushing up the stairs to the medicine-cabinet . A very tragic sad moment in her life which has been filmed with much impact that it had in her following years and has a connection with her eventual trip through space , from which a small moment below .

it's been a while since I've seen it and have been meaning to read through some of Carl Sagan's work

Great movie. But again... I hated the ending.

So was that really her dad she meets at the end of the movie or was it an alien? I can't remember
