I seriously cannot think of any Australian film that i have enjoyed.

Australians please guide me.

there are so many good ones out there!!! google Australian movies and you'll come up with a lot

Lantana was good. Little Fish was good.

Australia makes some good art-house dramas.

That's about it.

The Proposition has recently been released on DVD format. It's a gritty Western set in the Australian outback written by Nick Cave. Starring Guy Pearce and Ray Winstone, it's a bloody, poetic and overall excellent film.

To be fair, Australia has made some excellent fucking movies, but as I have said, mostly dramas. It is probably the art-form this country does best.

The Tracker was better in my opinion, for a similar film which came out around the same time. Anything with David Gulpilil is great.


Oh! And Beneath Clouds was EXCELLENT.

If I recall correctly, the subject matter didn't bother me, I just thought the film-making was a bit flawed. First time writer/director I think. But again, it was still "good".
